how do you reset your game for ng+ runs

It seems like there has been a lot of activity in the last month camparative to before that

I want to be able to switch between control schemes mid run, would it affect my time to pause and swap them? if so could i use a program like autohotkey to say replace right click with jump on a toggleable script? the reason is that i'm having trouble getting super/mega jump timing down and being able to both jump and shoot with one hand would be useful, but using right click for jump for the entirety of the level is difficult. I could paste the whole script here if you want to check it.
