Can I get a ruling on key rebinding specifically for controllers please?
Playing with a controller natively is possible, but it makes doing a "zip" literally impossible due to the fact that the game reacts differently when the player goes into a block depending on if the game thinks you are using a controller or the keyboard.
It also means that doing a 1 frame jump is practically impossible because only 1 button is bound to jump.
Therefore I want to know which buttons I can bind to jump, and specifically if I can bind the right stick's inputs to jump which would allow for quick inputs for 1 frame jumps as well as easier glide spamming.
Hi madsen, thanks for the offer I would appreciate that. I was going to ask for this if and when I get a good improvement on the old record anyway but haven't managed this yet.
I thank you for the compliment but I think it's a bit of an exaggeration.
There are a couple of tricks that I either didn't know about or didn't do, but aside from that I know I messed up the part where you fall through the flames, the part before the spiders towards the end where I bump my head, in the spider room where I try to jump over the block as it spawns but bump my head because I was too slow and then on the very last section where you should ideally be super jumping every platform.
To mess up that many times in about 6 mins is a long way from perfection in speedrunning terms and actually I am a bit surprised that no-one has beat it yet with the renewed interest in the game.
In fact I remember not being happy with my run and I almost didn't submit it to SDA for that reason, but I had worked hard enough on it and I had become too busy to do any more runs for a while so I did.
I don't think I've ever done a live run, and it's generally not my thing to livestream speedrunning because I wouldn't be concentrate to the maximum and also because I personally don't enjoy watching speedrun streams.
If anyone really thinks I spliced it though I suppose I could be convinced to do a live run in the discord where I should be able to get a run that beats the second place, but we'll see on that.
So it's annoying to reset.... so what? You aren't playing the same game any more.
I've enabled 2fa now, I'm sure this won't be annoying given my browser doesn't save sessions...
If you are sure, then you can give me the mod. However I don't think you should stop running the game just because you don't feel like you can beat my times. I first played (the original) 'Splosion Man in 2010 and I remember thinking the same thing when I first looked at the in-game leaderboards, but I kept playing because I loved the mechanics of the game, and I wanted to improve my own times as best I could, and eventually this led me to get really good and beat a lot of really good times.
Raknoran I've got a 1-1 run ready to submit, however the submit form is missing milliseconds. Would it be possible for you to add them for the individual levels?
Aight I'm just gonna start with world 1 and beat all of the records in order if I can. FYI Jordan xbox times are a lot more competitive than the PC times at the moment, I can list out the records if anyone needs them because I already made myself a spreadsheet.
I wouldn't mind recording a couple of runs, but I don't know which levels to run. Any levels you want to see?
Way of the coward shouldn't be allowed. You can just kill yourself (8?) times at the start of every level with RT and I'm pretty sure that's faster than every level, if not it's faster than almost every one.
Having hardcore difficulty as I've said before doesn't make any difference, at least not for individual levels. The only difference is that if it is a level in which you need to hit a large robot in order to jump over it, it's not possible in hardcore.
From my conversations with GBG3 and others, it would seem that most people play in hardcore when attempting individual level runs so long as they do not need to get hit to complete the run, simply because it automatically restarts the level when they get hit making it faster to reset.
Personally I play on normal almost all of the time and manually reset but as I've said mechanically the run is the exact same and should not be a separate category.
Hardcore in a full game run would make a difference but it's the kind of thing that would make the run so tedious due to the flying robot RNG that no-one is going to do that.
I don't object to a hardcore full game run option but certainly not for individual levels.
Separating the multiplayer and single player makes sense as it is, as you say, a different set of levels.
There is a mistake on level 1-3 of the single player though, you've put GBG3 as the player in 1-3 single player when it should be 1-3 multiplayer with GBG3 and me.
I can't see where the individual level boards are either in the main menu or the submit menu... so here is my run of level 3-2. I've got a couple more on my hard drive so I'll upload them too later.
Awesome. I'll get around to the world runs eventually because I think those would be super awesome. I'm working on doing level 3-2 at the moment for the in game leaderboard so I'll record that once I've beaten it. I've got a couple of recent runs on other levels too that are recorded.
I am not going to do every individual level unless someone else wants to post their own times up but if anyone does then I might try and beat them with one hand for fun if they aren't WR pace :p
Just had a check and the only levels that are not legit in my opinion are as follows:
1-7 - This was a time before a big patch that fixed an issue the game had which allowed people to get impossible times, the developers removed the times that were impossible but missed this one because it looks so close to the real times.
1-14
1-16
2-7 It's possible to get a better time by activating a switch and then immediately restarting which stops all the traps loading. The top time here still is impossible by these means though so it's either a cheat or some kind of glitch.
2-13 iamcami is one of the top players but he told us that some kind of non repeatable glitch happened to him as he did his run, so his time is not possible by normal means
The overall times do have a couple of cheaters above my time, but they don't have any of the individual records. The rest of the times are legit as far as I know, and I hold most of the records so I can tell you for sure that those are legit.
GBG3 I think is the only other player to hold any records and he is not a cheater I can assure you.
You're right but most of the times are legit (about 5 or so aren't out of 50 I think) and if you have them on here you will not get the best players coming in to post videos I'm afraid.
I'm not against putting the IL leaderboards up as I've said but it's a shame when smaller games go up like this and the "WR" times listed are nothing close to it which is what will happen. That is the one thing I don't like about this site.
For that reason if we have to have just one thing having times for world 1, world 2 etc is much better imo.
Having a category for one boss after the other doesn't make a lot of sense because the strategy for the bosses outside of the first one is so basic. I'm assuming that is what you mean by a boss rush.
Having individual world leaderboards makes a lot of sense to me because running the whole game in one go is a real pain and the world's themselves have a good amount of levels in each one and have a distinct feels to them.
I'm just wondering though BigK... how does one get mod for games on this site? Is it just because you were the first to suggest a section for this game or is it an experience on the site for a certain amount of time?
This stuff makes sense to add.
If you want to get some practice in with individual levels and have somewhere to aim for then you can have a look at the leaderboards on the game itself.
There are a couple of times that are obviously not legit (and 1-7 which looks kind of legit but I'm almost certain isn't) and one level that has an exploit which can only be done by completing most of the level and restarting but most of them are legit times and a good place to aim for.
