Well, I figured out a way to get 53 checkpoints.

At 6:23 in the video, I got a checkpoint when I could've gotten the trinket instead.

(At least the title will be accurate when I fix it!)

Correction: there are actually 54 checkpoints. I missed one in the Tower.
