Hey, fellow speedrunners!

The german speedrun community "Germench" (the official german restream for mayor events like AGDQ, SGDQ, RPG Limit Break etc.) is planning an online tournament for Zelda: A Link to the Past Any% NMG.

There will be two phases: Group phase and elimination phase (as shown in this concept document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ILarLe-sxbHEHCCEyTsRRZ3zEIBInKMOvi3YinKhDr4/edit?usp=sharing ).

The tournament starts in september (near the beginning) and will take at least 10 weeks, depending on how many people will participate.

Remember: Even though it's a german community the event will be international. We're doing german commentaries on our channel, but currently we're thinking about using another channel for english commentary.

In my opinion this should be part of Any%, but I'm open to other opinions ^^

Did anyone read what Zepieth posted here? I've got a response message, but the message itself is gone (as the runner himself) and I'm curious ^^

I just rejected the wr run in the C.H.E.A.T. category due to several complains about the video and audio being slightly faster. After double checking both the first and second run I don't see how the wr run could have been faster. If any it should have been slightly slower due to a tiny mistake at tie first level's goal post.

I may ask in the german community if there's any interest. Beside me there are four Sonic runners and three of them are working or have worked with us (Germench), so contacting them is no problem :)

A friend of mine and fellow member of our german speedrun community "Germench" submitted this game for our own speedrun event. Unfortunately and due to personal reasons he couldn't learn the run so far and now time's running out. He's determined to show Shadowrun Returns, but at this points notes would be really helpful. Can someone offer those?

I don't think there are many differences, so why not? ^^ Worst case would be a separated category but I don't think this would be neccessary :)

Due to events (including preparations and afterwork for the german restream) it took a while to verify the two latest runs. As mentioned in another thread, verification takes quite some time because I have to analyze the run frame by frame and I simply didn't have that time. Now all runs are done - at least for now :D

In my opinion All Chaos Emerald makes more sense than 100% as you described it. ACE is a category for most of the Sonic games and it provides some new and interesting strats. The run doesn't change too much of course, but enough to make it a different run (at least that's what I think). Don't get me wrong: If the community thinks it's not necessary to make it it's own category then I won't complain. It would be just nice to discuss it :)

I even submitted a run done at the Zocktoberfest, but as "Beat the Game". I stated in the discription that it would be ACE, but it seems the run was verified as BTG (and so it was obsolete right from the start). I'm currently at 21m08s (real time), which isn't the best time for it, but still a valid run imo ^^

Are you planning to have an All Chaos Emeralds category? I've started running ACE more frequently and really like it. I think it would be a nice addition to this board. What is your opinion on this?

To unlock One Dangerous Zombie you'll have to clear the game as Jill and Chris ("Once Again") on normal or higher difficulty (Furry wasn't sure about that, so I cleared it up ^^). As long as you prevent this you should be safe. Personally I would keep two seperate save files (one for each character) just to be sure or, as Furry mentioned, just start a new game without loading a file (depends on the category you wanna run).

Just to let you know: I put every submission in Sony Vegas to get the time. I'm taking the very first frame of the run (hitting a button in the title screen) and the very last one (when the final hit connects). The times you submitted may be different from the time shown on the leaderboard, so now you know why :)

I just noticed that in the world record run (by Gampling Frog) James Pond doesn't jump three times after finishing the first level. Is there any trick to avoid this?

What have I done? Just mentioning this game at the german restream of the AGDQ seemed to be enough to get us a speedrun community for James Pond 2: Robocod. Have fun trying to get new world records!
