Hello everyone,
With the recent questions and interest in this game as a speedrun, both trials, quests, and otherwise, it is necessary that we plan on what categories can be created, with the following goals in mind:
- Consistency: Future changes to the game shouldn't often obsolete runs. In this sense, most categories should be glitchless.
- Accessibility: Any player should be able to get their feet into these runs, and we should help them be able to.
- Popularity: Players should be interested in actually running these categories.
- Sensibility: Categories should just plain make sense from the standpoint of an outsider reading through their descriptions.
If you want to shape the future of Warframe speedrunning, please contact me via Discord PM (Twitter is fine too, but Discord is preferred). We want to make these categories inviting for runners and players, so please discuss your suggestions and ideas!
This thread will be locked and deleted once things are settled. For now, current discussions revolve around:
- Cinematic Quests as IL's (or separate full game runs)
- All categories should be glitchless
- Trial speedrun start and end times should be redefined
- Mastery Rank 1-30 runs should be full game runs
- What categories should be representative of this game in the first place.
Thank you for reading this! There's a lot of work to do, so things may be slow for the time being.
Heads up that the following categories are to be subject to complete deletion once MR30 is attainable:
Mastery Ranks 1-10 Mastery Ranks 11-20 Mastery Ranks 21-30
You may discuss the idea of category deletions here. The reason why this is the case is that it is redundant to split categories into chunks if a speedrun is generally about the entire process from start to end. The reason why the main category was split in the first place was to facilitate friendly competition and strategy-making as the game evolved over time, and once MR30 hits, there will be enough discussion over all tests to make having separate categories unnecessary.
Making these categories Miscellaneous only bloats the game's category list on this site; personally, I strongly suggest against going this route.
Questions or concerns? Please post below! We have time, so this will be stickied for quite a while.
If you are a Warframe boss speedrunner, YOU NEED TO HELP SOLIDIFY THIS LIST. Post a comment below with your suggestions and ideas for others to discuss.
Current Boss List for U18 to be determined, but the following list is up for debate. The theme for this update: FULLY ACCESSIBLE.
- Captain Vor
- Jackal
- Vay Hek
- The Sergeant
- Alad V
- Sargus Ruk
- Tyl Regor
- Hyena Pack (he's cool like that)
- Ambulas
- Lech Kril
- Kela De Thaym
- Raptor
- Captain Vor + Lech Kril
- [NEW!!!] J3 Golem
These rules are in place to decide the bosses: (A) The run must be theoretically possible at any point in time, so random encounter bosses are banned. (B) Update Boss lists are to represent the major bosses of the update, not field bosses. (C) Bosses must be freely accessible without resource farming.
Reasons for new boss considerations: [Lephantis] Keylocked. [J3 Golem] Added in a new quest during U17. As long as the boss fight is replayable, this is easily a candidate. [Mutalist Alad V] It is possible to access this boss by farming up coordinates through Infested Survival missions. However, this is NOT runner-friendly, and hence is not a part of the list.
In addition, we add these bosses for All Major Bosses 17) Lephantis 18) Mutalist Alad V 19) Phorid
We are changing the category to "All Major Bosses" to omit unpopular field bosses. See http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Boss . The only rules: (A) The boss must be somehow accessible. RNG is allowed to dictate this. (B) The boss must be killable in a solo or coop setting. (C) The boss is not a field boss.
BackSapper edit: We have a Discord server that a majority of the chat happens on now. New to the community and want to get some tips and tricks from us, or just want to chat and hang out? Drop on by! https://discord.me/UTSpeedRuns
We already have an SDA thread about this game: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/undertale.html
Please use the SDA thread for spearheading ¤¤new¤¤ discoveries regarding the categories. If you are curious about old discoveries or need a better explanation on why certain strats are used, please post in a new thread here.
e.g. "I found a new potential glitch or exploit! Where should I post it?" - SDA. e.g. "I need explanations regarding this point in a Genocide run. Where should I post it?" - These Forums.
