So to do it you just hold some southeast angle and ride up the railing at some speed and sometimes you'll get it. Also be sure to be at least three stairs up or you won't be able to walk up the side if you get it
It's just not consistent so there's nothing more to say really. It might depend on the your angle, it might depend on your speed, it might depend on the alignment of the planets we don't know. You can try to mimic a video but even the ones that are the best at it are under 20% success rate
As for why it happens it has to be due to the fact that when Luigi falls while looking down the stairs he does a different falling/sliding animation than if he was looking up the stairs. And this difference must have a slightly different hitbox that can clip the railing at the corner of the stairs which causes Luigi to lose his speed and stand up. As for why it doesn't happen consistently if this is the reason I don't know
This game has a channel in discord server with all of the games made by Robert Alvarez. So if you want to talk about the game you can here: https://discord.gg/SSVbtc5ssp
It seems like the video didn't attach but it did give me this link so maybe it'll work
The main method of going oob with light objects like the spool is to hold the object parallel to a wall and then holding R and walking into the wall. I think I've attached a video example of the most promising areas of warehouse but this website is kind of buggy. Also you can't send objects through rooms because once you go through a door all objects despawn regardless of where they are
I've tried a pretty good amount to get out of bounds on floor 1 or 2 but the options are extremely limited. I've never even really gotten close. The method of going oob with an object like the spool usually just results in Luigi falling oob and respawning back in bounds, which isn't helpful in this scenario as we'd need to get to the door. Except I haven't even been able to get oob at all. The only place I've gotten oob was in the drafting office from the sliding wall pushing me oob but that was a one off and I just fell through the floor and immediately spawned back in bounds. It just doesn't seem like getting oob is feasible at the moment
Besides Any% and 100%, runs on this leaderboard can be performed on any file with any amount of completion. This means you would be able to use any file that already has all of the upgrades unlocked
If video evidence is required for the run to be accepted, only the top screen is sufficient for verification. If you are using a webcam, try to keep most of the screen in frame. It is ok for the screen to occasionally go off camera, but this should not be a common occurrence. If you have any other questions you can reply here, message me directly, or join the Luigi's Mansion Speedrunning community Discord and ask in the Dark Moon channel. A link to the Discord can be found here: https://discord.com/invite/5XRHWsj
You are exactly right in how this glitch is performed and it can actually be done in a few other locations as well, for example when freeing certain toads. If I remember correctly about the King Boo one, you can't actually progress through the level so it wouldn't help in any speedrunning applications unfortunately. It's pretty cool that you found it on accident though!
The leaderboard accepts times from emulators above 1:05. There's also nothing stopping you from continuing to run the game on emulator even if you can't submit your time
As many of you may know the bedrock edition would record uses a strat where they reset until they get a seed that spawned them very far from 0,0 (as bedrock has different spawning rules it is possible to spawn over 1000 blocks away). That made me curious of the furthest spawn from 0,0 in Java edition. I recently had a spawn of -315, 230 (-4897817007587574083 1.16.1) which is the furthest I've ever seen and I tried searching online but with no luck. Does anyone know what the furthest known spawn is on Java?
- We would need to be looking for a mod. So either the game somehow becomes super popular and the two of us can't keep up, or one of us retires.
- We would then look for longtime active community members that we know well and trust to become mod.
So there is no way to apply. If you really want to be a mod I would say become a very active member of the community for at least 2 years and wait #1 to happen.
Yeah scarescraper as its own leaderboard is highly unnecessary, you should join the Luigi's Mansion discord if you want to talk about it more
It was brought up a while ago the appeal of a solo scarescraper subcategory, and we added some for testing, but then we just forgot about them lol. We decided that we would probably add more when/if it's brought up again. Come to the discord so we can have that discussion!
it should also be mentioned that some surfaces can't be double jumped off of in this game
it's all in the same discord, the discord linked is the luigi's mansion discord so it has the first game and dark moon + scarescraper
