Hello, my name is Tori. I am planning on starting to speedrun Toontown, but I was wondering if we could get a DDL category? Seems odd to me that we have all playgrounds but DDL. Also, could we get an any%? If we get any%, make it pausable but no progress allowed outside of proof and time?
DDL has way too many tasks and some of them take too long to complete. It's worse than the Brrrgh. You would have to get all cashbot suit parts, all laff boosts, max gag capacity, max jellybeans, and you also have to get both lawbot and bossbot suits since they are actually considered part of DDL tasks. This category has probably been requested a few times in the past but I guess it just never got added, and I'm personally okay with that because the category to me is seemingly brutal, even in co-op. However, if you really want to do a run of this, your best bet is to contact the mods (Connor or Mech) and see what they think.
Any% will never happen. LOL
I also would like if there was an any% category with those rules considering I’ve done a run of it LOL
I know it is difficult, but I still think it would be really cool to at least have as an option. I get TTC to DDL runs would be too difficult, but having a DDL run would be a really cool thing to have as something to work towards. It would make it more fun to have a marathon toontown stream, which could introduce more speedrunners to the community.
I mean it's not exactly "difficult", but the amount of time you would have to commit is just insane. Something you might not be aware of is that every single category in this game requires RTA timing, which means you can't just pause the run and come back to it later. You have to do it all in one go. You also can't pause the timer at any moment, even if you crash or stop to take a break. Being able to do that for a DDL run is quite tough, and I will say if you're willing to put yourself into that if the category gets added, my hat goes off to you.
For Any% however, don't even try. If you have a look at the one guy (HexSpeedruns) who did an unofficial run, it took him nearly 3 in-game days to complete it, but he paused the run many times and didn't continue until later, which obviously you can't do if it were an official category. Unless there is some absolute freak out there who can go 72 hours STRAIGHT playing Toontown and manage to show uninterrupted video proof, the category ain't happening, and I highly doubt it will.
I mean there are no rules, and even for runs like breath of the wild 100% some pauses are allowed and the WR for that category is like 19 hours. There are no rules for any% and splicing a game like toontown rewritten would be close to impossible, so I don’t see why it couldn’t be allowed, however that’s up to the mods, as hoping someone sits 72 hours straight to play toontown rewritten is an unfulfillable expectation

You're not the one who says there are no rules though. The rules aren't defined by the one person who did a run. Categories like these are made when you actually contact the mods and give ideas on them, and then they decide on putting it up and whether there should be rules. There are plenty of 100% categories like Super Mario Odyssey where RTA timing is used and pauses aren't allowed. Every game has different rules. This category doesn't exist, therefore you don't know if it actually has rules.
If Any% (or should it be called 100%) does get added, most likely RTA timing would be used just like all other categories in this game. It wouldn't make much sense for it to not be. That's why I think they won't ever add it.
I mean I don’t know of anyone who has done the category ever, so I went off of what is the most reasonable expectations of the player while still being fair, you bring up a good point about 100% for other games being RTA, however those games aren’t nearly as long. I don’t expect the category to be added, however it would be cool if the mods could at least CONSIDER it
