Hi there :)
I've been playing Rainbow Six for about a decade, but only started speedrunning it recently. However, I play on an original disc on a very, very old and fragile PC. I'm too cheap to shell out the money for a capture card, the computer's reaching the end of its life anyway, and my only other computer (the old one is my parents'-I'm only 17) is a Mac, so I can't play the GOG version. Would it be acceptable if I filmed my runs with my phone camera, or would that not count?
Thanks anyway.
I see no reason why it wouldn't count, as long as you can see entire screen on VOD all the time and video quality is watchable. Good luck to your runs once you get into doing them :)
Yes, I do think so, but you have to really make sure we can see the whole screen, otherwise your run could not be accepted ^-^
Thanks for the feedback. I've got a run, but the video file refuses to upload to YouTube, and I'm not sure why. It will say it's finished uploading, but it will get stuck at 99% "processing standard definition version" and not finish. I'm wondering if it's in the wrong file format (.mp4), or if there's something else wrong with it.
Not 100% sure.. I upload all my runs personally in .mp4. Sometimes it needs few hours for it to finish properly (give it that time, unless YT gives you some error telling that upload has failed).
A few hours? It takes about 20 hours to finish uploading, then it seems to immediately get stuck at 99% standard definition. Maybe it actually is processing, but not showing properly. I'll try again.
I also tried uploading it to Google Drive, but it gave me an error (don't remember what).
I had a few issues uploading to youtube too initially, ended up sticking it through a free bit of video software to compress it down a bit and uploaded nicely.
However once uploaded I think I did have to walk away for a bit for it to appear.
Best of luck with runs on PC - would love to get some activity going here!
Been playing since 98 on Zone / Gamespy etc, figured this was the last place to get some R6 competition these days :)
