After the Nov 5th update that "upgraded security for propane tanks, car alarms, and the power accumulator in the Powerplant" many of the current world records in alarm% have no way of being beaten unless using an old version of the game. I'm new and don't know how the speedrunning community works with this type of issue for other games - it's just as someone who wanted to get into speedrunning Teardown, this was very off putting to realize.

Should anyone who wants to speedrun only use the version of the game pre-Nov 5th? Do records get removed or labeled with a version when there's an update that causes a big change?

unless you mean march 5th i do not see a problem because all alarm% runs are post november 5th

I believe all runs that uses a glitch that got fixed in an update needs to be removed from the lb. If there are still any of those runs that exist, let us know.
