It will continue to be used to break current ties between two or more runners within the top 10, or in the special case currently with Chaos and his 3 59:57 WRs, they will all have milliseconds to differentiate from one another. Thresholds are not as effective for this game as it might be for others, its especially better for much shorter/faster speedgames; SMB for example.
Yeah, me too. But they have a problem that Verifiers can't edit the time of a speedrun if someone miscounted the frames. I mean, it isn't like sub hours are rare, so it would be easy to count SMO sub hour to milliseconds... but hey, that's their argument, I totally agree with you on this
One criterium that sounded quite reasonable to me was whether runners at the top of the board are grinding to PB by, with a significant chance, less than a second. I don't think we're at this point yet, as the top 4 are currently putting 59:4x in their titles
The point of doing this is that if multiple person do 1h or 59m or less they will be not able to tell witch one is the best so I am totally right with this!
As stated previously, milliseconds are only to differentiate times between the top 10 when two or more runners are tied in seconds, or when a WR is tied in seconds. Milliseconds have no effect otherwise, shouldn't be about making the sub 1 hour times look more pleasing, times are still being pushed down by seconds, not milliseconds.
I mean when the game is this optimized Miliseconds are huge
This game is (currently) not optimized down to the millisecond or even second, and it won't be for a long time. A category that takes roughly an hour of a 3d game with many possible angles and such has a low chance of becoming optimized down to the second in the future. I (personally) can't see this game becoming so optimized that if a runner misses "insta-nut" they reset.
We literally only used milliseconds to break a tie because people were being displayed out of order on the leaderboard. Outside of that there is no tangible benefit to using milliseconds so its unnecessary extra work for the verification team.
Now that there's no tie anymore, it would be nice for the board to remove the milliseconds from goruya and nicro run lol
goryuya/Chaos 59:46s will not have milliseconds removed, if removed, stats would be messed up (Chaos' 59:46 would not show up on stats because its the same time m:s as goryuya, just achieved at a later date, though it is infact a World Record by milliseconds).
