One last observation: If you go back to the main menu with the stored cutscene, go to the options menu and choose to view a movie, it will always play the one you stored. It somehow overrides it.
I just kinda come up with a concept, spent ten minutes bitching at the game, executed what I wanted to and turned the game off.
I did some more fooling around with the OoB part of the glitch and tested it for Lisa's level. I couldn't think of much other use than something like this. (I do apologize for having to cut the video, I was derping around seeing if I could go anywhere with the broken vehicle that I couldn't otherwise) Also, the floor seems to be dependent on the height Lisa is at but jumping and not landing on a rendered surface will lead to a quick trip to the void. In any case you seem to be boxed in within the constraints of the invisible walls around the roads, however if you get close to them you can car reset and get on them. I don't understand what dictates whether or not the area you reset to loads or not since I've had both unloaded areas and loaded areas happen when resetting onto roads.
I guess that can be used as a shortcut if you're going that way, going OoB then resetting onto the road
I don't know if this is faster than the current route, I haven't timed it at all, I just thought I'd share it regardless.
Glitch impossible with family sedan, or at least I haven't been able to get it because the body of the car is too close to the ground, however the pickup vehicle in level one is capable of performing the OoB. The glitch is also possible to execute with the Canyonero, however it seems very inconsistent, mostly due to the canyonero having a tendency to bounce over the railing and get more upwards momentum than forwards. I have not figured out any reference points for this or anything though. Have fun - Cob.
Perhaps this could be an alternative to the power plant clip for delivering the waste OOB
For the rocket powered WWII car there's a pretty easy reference as to where you can get OoB, on the side of the bridge towards Cletus' place between the fourth and fifth pillar on the railing counting from the one in front of the support structure(the orange metal beam) you should be able to just drive straight through the railing, you can literally line up from one side of the bridge and just drive towards it and get OoB. At least if my terrible memory doesn't deceive me that's the reference that I found for that vehicle.
So that happened once. It might just be one of those things that happens once in a blue moon and isn't practically repeatable, but if someone were ever to TAS the game, this would be something to look into to save up to a few minutes.
I also (probably) found two reset strats. The first is resetting after making it over half way the tire fire (mainly only useful if you're about to fall into the fire, or if you're about to get a lot of air or overshoot the trailer park), which puts you right before the bend after the tire fire, angled towards the trailer park.
The second is resetting shortly after the driveway shortcut next to the Simpson's house, before the krusty glass. Prior to pressing select (or the equivalent on PC/GCN), you need to turn the vehicle slightly to the left. The result is that you are put on the intersection ahead facing towards the next shortcut. This is mainly useful if the vehicle's speed is very high, or in situations like mission 7-7 where it helps to prevent you from losing the waste.
The weird launch you got at the start probably won't be very consistent/might not even work on PC because we have discovered console-only strats before. We already knew about the 2 resets, the tire fire one we use to make the jump in 4-3 in Cletus's truck, the other one we use for exactly the reasons you said
School vents on every level extend downwards, meaning you can just use it to climb the up the wrong side first. Might be useful in runs (I hope)
(as bob says, we're not worrying about detail yet)
I mean that you could do that on the way back from duff truck in level 6, get the stuff on the ship, then drive back. Only thing is that level 6 cleanup would need re-routed
Can someone test this on PC for me. Doing resets in this mission on PS2 despawns the trigger to end the mission. So I don't know if it's useful or not.
Tested 2 different strats with the above strat
I respawned on the last bend (where you can jump out of the glass on Krustylu on 6-2) and your strat I got above the map sooner in your strat but neither worked.
I think the reason this doesn't work is there is (invisible) checkpoints along the race and when you hit the last checkpoint it will trigger the finishing line.
since a lot of people don't seem to know this:
If you enter Android's Dungeon (Android's is probably the most notable but any interior will cause this) before the mission complete scene is complete (when mission warp is available) YOU WILL SOFTLOCK. you will be stuck in the interior with no menu available and unable to move and your run will be dead.
This is most notable after completing 3-1.
So if you forget something in Android's wait for the mission warp to be available or get it later.
In Flowers by Irene, the civilian car (not the truck/ute) can reliably destroy both the wasps in the stonecutter's tunnel (doing the jump) even after getting 2 wasps (for the 2 wasp rule). This allows you to follow the black van so it keeps it's speed up and also get all the coins. It is risky because you rely on breaking both wasps after the 2 wasp rule (back of the neighbours and the trailer park). I haven't tested this fully but in my runs I use this strat and I think it is faster. You need to be going at full speed to have enough momentum to be able to break both wasps. I found the second wasp is really easy to break, the first can be gotten if the trailer park wasp is missed.
I thought I'd write this here as liquid could integrate this into his runs to push the (ASM) record further
*THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH ANYTHING BUT THE CIVILIAN CAR
After a lot of consideration on many factors over the past couple of weeks, the mod team have decided that the best course of action is to allow the custom save file to skip the Bart 1, Apu, Bart 2 and Homer 2 cutscenes. This save file is banned in No Mission Warps, with the goal to maintain the sta
