So the Definitive Edition is out now. And man are the new abilities cool. Can't wait to break the game again.
Just wanted to get a thread started to talk about the new possibilities and new routing for the DE. I haven't finished my casual run yet, but so far i know that fronky walk still works. So possibly the routing for categories like Any% and ASnooB are probably going to stay the same. Unless it's faster to run into the new area and grab dash then do Fronky walk.
It'll take some testing to figure that out (because it's not a quick section to get dash as far as i know).
Some of the cell placement may have changed as well. All Chells will change a lot in DE since there are more to pick up in the new areas.
btw you can't access the second part of the new area until you have stomp (or if we can figure out how to fronky walk or something down the new area too. (don't remember if there's anything to break that nearby)
I'm going to finish my first playthrough this afternoon, then I'll get to testing (and hopefully stream it). I'll be on the discord server too while i play.
I found a way to do the sorrow bash skip using double jump, 5 health, and the charge dash ability. The method is similar to doing it with 5 health and double jump, but replaces the double bash with a charge dash. I'll put a link to a video demonstrating this below.
I never properly learned how to position the birds so I do use a double bash for that, but this method should be doable without them at all. I've heard double bashes are more consistent on pc, but perhaps this will help some players out.
Does anyone know if it's possible to advance through Valley of the Wind without Stomp? The new wooden barrier that was added after the sequence of slimes looks like it requires you to stomp a wooden peg in order to get by.
With xJPolley's method for Sorrow Bash and using dash to get Kuro's feather, I was really hoping that a triple jump-less and stomp-less any% run would be viable without having to double bash.
You guys will want to discuss these things in the DE leaderboard forum, over here: http://speedrun.com/ori_de/forum
