So, I keep seeing the debate to change Intended. I don't think that's a good idea. I think the name should be changed to No Major Skips. Then, there could also be a No Skips category, where you have to stay on the track. This fits pretty well, and a lot of other speedrun games have it, like Speed Run 4 (https://www.speedrun.com/robloxsr4) which is one of the most popular games on this website. I think this is the best solution, as if more minor skips are discovered, it would be easier to allow or not allow them.
Yes, that sounds nice. But do you think I could resubmit for example my Dusty Desert run for that category (if it gets created), bc it doesn't have any Skips/Shortcuts?
Yes? Runs can be in multiple categories. I do see only 1 thing changing if this category gets in, at that being Dusty Desert allowing the pond skip at the start of the run.
its where you drive through the lake on your left
Also for no skips, does this mean all 4 wheels have to be on the road or not
Also, i agree with you NMS and NS are good category ideas
I guess I need to explain with a example. In Funky Forest, there is a skip where you can cut through the forest and it saves around 2.5 seconds. That is not a major skip, so it would be allowed in No Major Skips, meanwhile the Hill Skip, at the second checkpoint, just driving on the edge of the lake to the next checkpoint, would not be allowed, as it saves around 8-12 seconds, and arguably removes the most technical part of the run.
@TheGameWARIoXx No, because I don't think it would be fair to disqualify a run, because they accidently drove of the stage for a second. It would just ban every skip. Now there could be a rule where at least 1 wheel has to be on. I just don't think all 4 is best.
Sounds like a lot of effort to figure out all the rules and would add an experience wall to new players.
all 4 isnt the best cuz in initial d one of the major strats takumi used is turning corners with 2 wheels offroad.xd
No Major Skips would be a plausible change, because the meaning of "Intended Route" is rather hazy. No Skips on the other hand would be not that different and would not be worth creating another category for.
no skips would mean ontrack only its tottaly diffrent neo with 0 skips not even bridges just track
Yeah, that is what i was referring too, cause in NMS, for example, in PP, you could skip some of the track by driving on the dirt, which would be banned in NS.
Alright, I will display my entire Idea right here:
Firstly, we switch Intended to No Major Skips, as that is basically what it is now. The only map it would change the runs for is DD, since I presume Pond Skip would fit under this category. (though some seem to disagree) This also will make it easier to allow or ban skips, when they are eventually discovered. The rules will also be changed accordingly. Another example of a minor skip, is the current skip used in FF, the one where you immediately turn at the first checkpoint and skip the first turn away. A major skip, for example, is the Hill Skip, also in FF, used in any%. This would not be allowed as it is not minor. The skip is at the second checkpoint of FF, instead of going on the hill, to the jump, you drive to the right, and drive through to the 3rd and Final checkpoint.
Secondly, a new category is made. No Skips. This is pretty simple, as it just bans the use of all skips, including the bridge in PP.
This is, in my opinion, the best solution to the current split of the community, and no runs will have to be removed or disqualified, unless they were cheated runs of course.
Hopefully, this explains everything.
On the side note, I don't have a problem with Intended, though many do. I made this for that reason, but I also think that this is better then Intended, as I think this is much more understandable, especially with No Skips, and the new rules, when they get set into place.
Run Movement Info:
All intended DD routes would be moved to NS, due to none of them using any of the minor skips. FF would take the most time to sort, as some runs use no skips and others use the minor skips mentioned. I don't know how SS works lol. PP and AD, the rules about the skips would need to be finished to decide what happens to them, which is in this current thread: https://www.speedrun.com/jelly_drift/thread/4a7jz
