Lone Wolf Multiplayer Bypass
By complete accident, jonwillbert & i have discovered a way to enable the Lone Wolf bizarre dream in co-op when it's meant to be singleplayer only, after some testing we discovered it's about 90% consistent to enable Instructions:
- Whoever is hosting the game should create a lobby and enable every dream they want enabled before their co-op partner(s) join
- Host should tell their friend to join and before the teammate(s) join the lobby, the host needs to spam left click on any dream BESIDES Lone Wolf before any co-op partners join
- If the trick worked, the Lone Wolf menu will stay on screen and you won't be able to disable Lone Wolf after your teammates are in
Some things to note
- This trick is tied to FPS to some extent, so if you're struggling to get it to work the host should try setting their in-game FPS in the settings to 30 (you can set it to 20 through nvidia control panel if you're still having trouble), you're free to up your fps to whatever you like after you start your run
- This appears to only work in any update after the Season 2 release (updates 4/26/24, 4/29/24, 4/30/24, 5/9/24, 5/15/24 (live patch as of this post)
- I recommend butterfly clicking (using 2 fingers to tap the left mouse button) to increase your clicks per second to higher your chances of getting it to work
- You can get this to work with up to 4 players, you're just gonna have to repeat the same process for each person that joins your lobby, if you make a mistake and it doesn't work you'll have to repeat everything all over again starting from 1 teammate
- The trick will still be enabled if you and your teammate quit out to lobby, making it less of a hassle if you need to reset for a specific starting weapon
- Every player gets the Lone Wolf blessing that the host enables, teammates cannot choose their own blessing out of Lone Wolf

The Category Extension board is now out
I've been wanting to have this board up for quite some time and i finally got around to doing it, the only 2 categories currently are All Characters & All Characters (No DLC), both of these runs will be done using RTA timing which means an external timer (livesplit or any stopwatch) will be enforced & visible in the recording for these two categories.
I'm open to taking future category suggestions for this leaderboard since it's not meant to be taken as seriously as the main board.
Please make sure to go over the game rules & category rules as there is quite a few differences that will take some getting used to & keep in mind some things might end up being subject to change
Quick announcement about bizarre dream modifers in speedruns since there's been questions both here and on the discord
All current FREE Bizarre Dream modifiers are allowed in your runs, when/if they end up releasing bizarre dream modifiers behind DLC rules on those specifically may be changed.
So we've had a handful of people ask for board support or where to post xbox/game pass release runs - So we've added the option to select it when submitting a run, there are however a few caveats.
The xbox/game pass release is functionally identical to a steam released version but just backdated around a year in terms of content updates, this means you don't have access to the newer strategies/items so times will be on average quite a bit slower, this along with mouse & keyboard vs controller makes for a pretty uneven playing field in terms of competitiveness. We expect the xbox version to either be always slightly behind the steam version or eventually "catch up" to the steam releases, This is the main reason for categorizing the runs along side the steam release along with the fact that the versions aren't different to warrant an entirely different board (If somehow the direction of this release changes from the steam version a different board may be required). Another difference is you won't have access to use the speedrun saves we have available (Pity and Preset) this is pretty huge for run consistency and lowering of bad odds. This is due to the save format being slighty different - Making it so saves from a steam release (even the exact patch that the xbox/game pass version is) are not supported, despite being able to move saves from xbox/game pass to the steam version with no issue. Pc/Gamepass users can still use livesplit autosplitter (Made by Ero) - even though it was built for the steam release, as mentioned earlier the game is the same, just backdated a year. With all this being said you are still able to filter by specifically xbox versions to view only xbox runs specifically, like this:
Good luck in your runs
Hey! Over the last couple months jonwillbert has been working on a newly optimized file for running full game. This file is an improved version of the previous low scroll/pity file
As we understand it the game has a pity system for room layouts, when entering a level it will look to the last two times you played that level (eg 1-4) and make certain that in your next visit to that level, those 2 layouts will not be in the randomized pool. This is file specific allowing us to be able to set this up and have it repeatable and shareable, The only downside being that once the third run is attempted the "pity" is messed up for our purposes, forcing the runner to at-least restart the game after each attempt.
The result of this means:
- 14 less scrolls than before (total of 41 less), 6 less legendaries than before (total of 14 less)
- 3 less normal ammo weapons with Arms Support Talent at level 1, giving a bigger chance of getting an ideal starting weapon (Rainbow, Concealed Ammo)
- 99% of the run killing layouts "removed" (worst 2-2 wave, worst 2-3 , worst 3-1, worst 3-2, ect) more info on layouts can be found in the layout list under the "Resources" tab on the GFR Speedrun.com boards
This file also has the option to run with or without Gemini inscriptions, allowing us to run with 5 inscriptions instead of 4 + Gemini, which can be favourable in some scenarios
It should also be noted that interacting with any unlocks that you get mid run (recycling or picking up) will result in your run being rejected when submitted to the boards.
As always, this is mostly recommended to be used in Normal difficulty. For instructions on how to download and use the file, you can go to https://www.speedrun.com/gunfire_reborn/resources and download the file named "Low Scroll/Pity File v2"
As a quick news update : There will be a post in the Forum about a potential change for the Foundry only rule set. The addition of Act 4 and R8 difficulty made it increasingly more difficult to compete in this category. Therefore there will a post in the forum to discuss this topic and vote on it.
Today's update while big in its own terms for balance, also included the ability to skip all boss cutscenes, This is very impactful on run times and we should see a lowering of all current times for essentially free.
we know it isn't ideal to have times be constantly changing due to game updates but beyond wiping the entire board when changes like these happen there's not a whole lot on our end we can do with keeping the boards consistent and fair for old/new runs.
We talked with the devs before the patch hit about a "Add remaining skipped cut scene time to in-game time" which would allow the convenience of skipping with no IGT change but it was shot down as it didn't make sense for anyone else but runners so it's likely to operate like this for the future.
If any solution that isn't - Calculating exactly how much cut scene time was skipped and adding it ontop of in-game time for the boards, then we'd love to hear it. (Reason we wouldn't do this is it'd be inaccurate and a ton of work for the mods).
As of now runs will just go ahead as normal with the free time-save :)
In this patch there was quite a few changes - Some making 4 act runs easier, We now get scrolls in act 4 peddlers and also a goblet/legendary from the 3rd act boss. We're not gonna make any adjustments to the boards as this doesn't make the game harder or slower.
We have however gone over all pre-patch runs and adjusted the submitted time, This is to account for a bugfix to the after death pole monarch cutscene - The time will now stop on death instead of after the cutscene making all previous runs about 18-19 seconds in time difference (Length of the cutscene), No changes need to be done on your end for timing. If your run hasn't been adjusted and still has the 18-19 sec time loss then contact Pimmalage :) Thanks and good luck in your runs.
The Speedrun.com boards have had a glorious facelift, archival and support for 1.0 runs. All previously posted runs (With exception to IL runs) are now accessible via the "Misc." tab at the end of the categories. Note all these changes are still able to be adjusted, this is a first draft
All main category runs should now be only 4 stage runs, With the exception of Any% (Which will only feature 3 stage runs), Fresh file and IL runs. Fresh file is made to be 3 stage only as the 4th stage is inaccessible. Preset file is now only available for use in the Any% category and IL categories. Preset file will still be selectable when submitting runs outside of these categories due to a limitation with the speedrun.com boards. Any% Does not have any character separation, this was an idea to promote a focus on lowering the overall game time regardless of Character choice, it's a heavier focus on this, you can still however filter by characters and preset/no preset in any%. I am aware this may result in all the top times being dominated by one single character, but the focus isn't on characters here only the overall completion time, if individual character optimization is wanted then Full game runs will still have this separation. We would appreciate any and all feedback on the draft as the decisions weren't exactly polled before doing these changes.
So with the release of 1.0 the Boards might see significant changes and likely an archival of older patches, If you have any thoughts about the specific direction of the boards after playing 1.0 Please leave your opinions and the like on here or via the official discord. We will likely wait a bit until we have most of the boards sorted to then take submissions for 1.0 - Try to hold off on submitting until then If you have any pre-1.0 runs please submit them and make sure the date played is accurate, In the mean-time 4 stage full runs should be totally fine to attempt/record runs with in preparation.
