Hey everyone. There has been a slight change to the timing rules, which applies to all full game categories.
From now on, timing ends when the cutscene of giant Rez getting hit plays for the third time.
Reason for the change is that Rez pressing the final button is not necessarily equivalent to a finished run. It's not an uncommon scenario to suffer a death as he's hitting the button, and it's even possible to take damage and lose the fight after it has been pressed. This always called for additional clarification when it comes to what counts as a "finished" run. On the other hand, the cutscene is a much cleaner sign for a run being successfully completed.
All currently standing PBs on the leaderboards have been retimed to reflect this change. The retiming method is the same used in SM64 speedrunning, which is detailed here.
For N64 runs, the first all black frame after resetting / turning on the console has been used as the starting point. It's not perfect, but gets the job done.
