Discord Mod Syndrome

Salutations.

I have lived through narcissistic behaviour of @ViperUK years ago. After enduring enough & leaving the community, I hoped I won't have to be bothered by crooked actions of mentioned gentleman.

But luck has smiled to me again today and I have been summoned by a notification, that my historical runs for the game Colin Mcrae Rally (1998) have been wiped!

One of the runs, which is slower than my current best & only exists as a symbol of progress, that has been removed because of "missing VOD": https://www.speedrun.com/cmr1/runs/0znl3x7y

I have been denied all communications by said person & as he has been passionately calling me a cheat on social media, I don't expect the matter to be solvable without external input.

Ok nice. So what do you us to do about this lol?

If you think the moderator isn't very good, then you could submit a Support ticket to get the moderator removed and you added as one in their place.

Actually, the above might not happen as site staff normally don't kick out an entire moderation team

The Support ticket page can be found from Help > New ticket and you'd submit under "Become a moderator for an existing game". https://www.speedrun.com/support/tickets/new

You'd then explain why the moderator isn't good enough to be a mod. Preferably they might have broken the site rules or moderation rules. For example, not listening to the community.

Also your run being rejected for the video not being available is reasonable.

Good day, Let me just start by saying the reason I have removed VOD's (Not just his) was due to no VOD and in my view (No VOD - No Proof) so the fact that I'm getting called out for this is quite comical.

The main reason this guy was kicked from our community was due to some bad comments made about others and all he ever did was complain about stuff whether it was someone couldn't install a game and needed help (He proceeded to say that had the IQ level of 1 - Basically saying they were dumb) or the fact that he wasn't helpful in any way. He proceeded to say that Speedrunning is a business (Something that is debateable wherever you go) and that because I had beat his WR time in one particular game got very upset because he couldn't do it on stage like he hoped he could a day later.

The guy was nothing but trouble and is not welcome in our community so has been banned for his childish antics (Something that has continued in other communities too) and I hope he learns by his mistakes. He is still banned from both our community and our events to this day due to the fact that he hasn't changed and this forum post amongst other videos proves that (See below)

Also @YUMmy_Bacon5 if I may add a crucial problem I have with the original poster, he switched out links on the community pages for our game in order to collect people's information which is against many rules. He was stupid enough to brag as you can see from the image below.

Dude is off the rocker.

We've agreed to use the speedrun of CMR '98 to promote a community & store with classic games & consoles. We've worked on promoting the action. But he decided to double cross us & mess with the arrangements he decided to practice the game & stream at the same time as we did. Beating the best time, stealing attention from our cause. And now tries to push it as something "debateable" and me being "jealous" of his "achievements".

Poland

If I wanted to steal someones data, why would I tell that person that I did it?

It was an awareness raising action, to show people that one unconspicuous link on the website can be used for malicious stuff.

Poland

The videos are not available, because they are of 10 year old submissions, that have been obsoleted through newer, faster runs. @YUMmy_Bacon5

One can find plenty of similar obsolete submissions by @ViperUK, that are also missing old VODs, because twitch stopped storing old vods, or they were just not interesting anymore after succession.

But these submissions are not being removed. The latest WR run by myself is still standing. All that this dude is trying to remove is my foundation history. And keeps on trying to twist reality.

I would say you're in the wrong here.

You can make people aware by verbally telling them - instead of being the thing you were against. Since they trusted you to send a proper link.

The site rules say:

Intentionally submitting falsified runs is prohibited. This includes attempts to "test" moderators, which will likely get you banned.

Although you didn't submit a false run, you still tried to "test" people's knowledge on links - even if it was in good faith?

But these submissions are not being removed

It's difficult to know when a run's video gets deleted as the site as no automated tools to find out. And the moderator(s) might not be aware that their runs are now invalid.

If so, then you should tell the moderator(s) that their videos are invalid so they can rejected or reupload them. And if they don't fix their own broken videos, then they are in the wrong as this is unfair.

Poland

They trusted a random account to send a link to cracked version of the game. I believe that just telling people to be careful, wouldn't change a thing.

I understand the rest of the message. If we work in trust, this trust shouldn't be broken.

I have been going through submissions this morning and removing those without VOD's including my own so I don't know how you're spinning this off as my fault here. Honestly you're just digging a bigger hole so keep going.

Good.

I am still not fine with you going on a history wiping streak, but "its according to the rules", then I can't disagree, no matter how crazy this is ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Greater Manchester, England

@HighPriest Just so you are aware you didn't just break site rules but also DPA rules as well so realistically you're in the wrong. Also when you come back and beat me with some times with actual proof then I'll let off "slightly" so good luck with that. Bye.

history wiping streak

I think they're only trying to remove deleted videos?

Personally, I wouldn't remove runs which were once verified with a deleted video. But some moderators do, which I guess is a reasonable thing to rejected runs for. And I do agree that it does change the history of the leaderboard a bit.

Also the site rules don't specifically say anything about this but I know that it's fine to do.

If you don't want your runs rejected for this, then you could just reupload your video so it's no longer invalid and then resubmit or edit the run.

but also DPA rules

I don't think so.

As I think it was a Google Drive link that he sent? And when you can't access one of those links, there's a button you can press that lets you request access to the link. And Google Drive tells you that your email is sent over to allow for access.

I told you, dude literally lives in virtual reality and all that counts to him is the leaderboard. Citing laws he has no clue about. If I beat his time, he is going to "let off".

No matter what the motive is; that being even raising awareness, intentionally posting false runs/runs with malicious links is not allowed on sr.com as @YUMmy_Bacon5 said.

I actually wouldn't call a Google Drive link malicious though? So I don't know why he said he was "testing" people and raising awareness? Maybe that was just an excuse of him forgetting to set the share settings to everyone with the link.

How come he shared screenshots, and talking about intentionally grabbing peoples e-mails?
