Since I made a 2024 Speedrunning Goals thread in 2023, what are your guy's speedrunning goals for 2025?
My goals are to have good times in all of the main Red Ball games and to get better pb's in Seterra and Moto X3M
- Celeste Classic Pink role, 1:39 any%, 1:34 sum of best, sub 3 minutes abt
- Mobility Sub 6:15 any% contact, oneshot 100%, sweep the fullgame categories, "fix" the IL leaderboards by running every empty category and making sure that every world record has video and is submitted to speedrun.com
- Cyclo 8 Sub 1:03 in all levels, sub 4 in all collectibles
- Lint Get world record.
There are definitely other things I'd like to do, but I've already given myself some very hard and time consuming goals, and I don't want to end up making a post at the end of next year that's super long because I have like 100 goals lol.
Really only 2 things that I've been trying to do for a while that I'm hoping I can fell in 2025:
- Rugrats: Search for Reptar any% WR - Need to really get back into this grind, which has been semi rough in recent times with the main controller I used officially dying and then having 1 run that was WR pace freeze on the last loading screen before the final level started really messing with my general motivation for running the game.
- Uncharted 2 & 3 Permadeath Complete - UC1 was done last year, UCLL was near the first third of this year, and I somehow managed to get through the slow paced UC4 before the weekend leaving just these 2 games as official LB games. (Golden Abyss the Vita game I plan to do as well, but there's no checkpoint tracking in the game thus making it harder to verify a run.) UC2 I actually got to Chapter 25 out of 26 and again have just struggled to get back to that point so am hoping I just get the run that gets through it. UC3 will more than likely be a breeze in comparison.
For me it's a sub 18:30 in punch out, sub 5:30 in super Mario Bros and to actually have been able to beat Ninja gaiden in one sitting I mean I can't even beat second to last boss
- Take at least 10 seconds off my Jazzpunk Any% time, whilst pushing for the WR in general
- Sub 1-minute on Prison 100% in Paint the Town Red
- Sub 1:40 on Biker Bar 100% in Paint the Town Red
- Arma 3 Campaign Speedruns and Routing (very general, but I want to start with trying Old Man)
- Improve my time in Proteus Any% to nearly the fixed limit
- Reclaim the Drizzlepath Any% WR
- Complete a speedrun of INCISION Any% both EP1 and EP2
- Improve my time in Sandcastle (even if just by a little bit, to claim 2nd place)
- Finally, from last year's list, claim the Original 7 Categories WR in TABS and complete the first Full-Game run ever.
Probably going to aim low and have vague, general goals instead of anything specific this time around:
- Do more Geometry Dash speedruns
- Participate in more speedrunning marathons
- Finish the segmented run I'm working on
- Make at least one video guide
- Finish a TAS
- Add a game to speedrun.com
- Unrelated to speedrunning, but build more Geometry Dash levels and make more art
That's it really. The reason why these are so unspecific is because I'm working on multiple guides/TASes/segmented runs at once, so I want to dial back if that makes sense. If I can do just one of each? Great. If I can push myself and do more? Even better. See you in 2025!
I think after having my account here for seven years, I think it might be time to upload my first run, you think?
Besides that, I'd say I have a few more specific goals:
- Get first WR
- Submit a run for a game that I feel is under-represented and/or has very few runs (and possibly become a mod for it)
- Learn a run for a game in which the any% is at least an hour long
get a Solo 5:1X for Grace and eventually get Refunct WR in less than a month of starting
Not sure if that counts, but I'm in the process of organizing my very first speedrun marathon charity event. It's my goal for 2025 to make it a "success" (defined very loosely).
Other than that I have a few goals for future years to come:
- learn Harkonnen & Ordos Campaign for Dune 2 (I already know Atreides)
- learn, document & route Warlords III & IV campaigns
- learn Dungeon Keeper 2 campaign
- improve the Zeliard route & get back WR (if only for a bit)
- improve my Golden Sun TLA knowledge & run
- learn the Golden Sun DD run
- get comfortable with openXCOM hotkeys & grind to sub 15min
- learn some more Prince of Persia (DOS, Any%) glitches & get a sub 16min
- learn, document & route M.U.D.S.
- learn, document & route Monty Python's Flying Circus
I'll pick a few of those for this year. This is too much anyways for what I can get in this year.
Mines is to finish the Sonic Java games and the other weird obscure Sonic games before then moving onto the Game Gear games (though I'm not sure I'll get to the GG games this year)
Java:
- Shadow Shoot: any% and ILs
- Sonic Cricket: any%
- Sonic Darts: any%
- Sonic Golf: Amateur, Pro, Zones and ILs
- Sonic Jump 2: any% and 100%
- Sonic 1 Part 1: Hard any% and All Emeralds, DoJa Easy, Normal and Hard any% and All Emeralds
- Sonic 1 Part 2: Low End, High End Easy, Normal and Hard any% and All Emeralds
- Sonic 1 Full: All 4 varients
- Sonic 2 Dash: Basically all the same as S1P1 and S1P2
- Sonic 2 Crash: Basically all the same as S1P1 and S1P2
- Sonic Tennis: any%
- Sonic Unleashed: any% in all versions
Arcade:
- SegaSonic the Hedgehog: Beat the Game and All Bonuses
Sonic the Fighters: All Characters
Didj:
- Sonic the Hedgehog (Not much info right now)
Leapster:
- Sonic X: any% and 100%
Mobile:
- Sonic at the Olympic Games: Save the Games, Save the Games NG+, Zones, Golds
- Sonic Jump: All Stages, All Red Star Rings, ILs (with and without jumpscare)
PC:
- Sonic Schoolhouse: All the classes at all grades
Saturn:
- Sonic Jam: All Missions and "ILs"
Tiger:
- Sonic 1: ̶e̶x̶i̶s̶t̶ Beat the game
- Sonic 2: ?
- Sonic Underground: ? (Not ripped)
- Sonic 3D Blast: ? (Not ripped)
- Sonic Jam (Game Com): All characters in all games
If I get through all that this year, I'd be pretty happy (and can maybe play and enjoy the more normal games)
