Separating start and split hotkeys in LiveSplit

What the title says. Is there a way to configure separate hotkeys for just starting the run and then making a split? Would be useful to be able to just start the run on the first key input of the speedrun. An alternative I thought of is writing an autosplitter just for starting on any key input, but I could not find how to access keyboard inputs in the ASL documentation.

There may technically be some convoluted way to do that, but that's not really how autoplitters are supposed to work, so naturally that wouldn't be documented.

Short of modifying LiveSplit itself, which probably isn't worth the hassle, I don't believe there's any way to do that. Also that might sound convenient but I think it would realistically just lead to you accidentally starting your timer all the time. For me personally it's never really been an issue to just press both keys at the same time, but it depends on how exactly the game starts, I guess.

I have my split key binded to the warp to home button so that I dont have to press both keys for every split. Having this be pressed at the start is kinda wierd and loses a bit of time.

you could possibly make an ahk script that has multiple keys act as "del" for example if that would be your split key and then after the first press it would kill (stop) the script and return everything normal

though i personally have a hard time seeing why you want to separate them. if you split every time you "warp to home" it'd just be easier to change the time when you split instead of doing it the very second you "warp to home"

The ability to customize hotkeys for starting and splitting in LiveSplit is indeed a valuable feature. It allows runners to optimize their setups based on personal preferences and the specific requirements of each game. The flexibility to assign distinct keys for these actions enhances precision and minimizes the risk of accidental splits. This separation not only caters to individual preferences but also contributes to a smoother and more efficient speedrunning experience.
