Effective February 1st, No RTT categories for Cars will be fully renamed to No Major Exploits (NME). This includes extension categories, as well as anything in Guides and Resources.
This decision came after concerns were brought up that No RTT was a misnomer, as the term in the title, "RTT" (reset to track), whose name is derived from the in-game control option, refers to the deliberate use of the reset button to activate an off-track reset. This was intended to be distinct from "OTR" (off-track reset), which encompasses all off-track resets. While it may be semantically correct according to these definitions, these terms are extremely vague and rarely used, and the name in full fails to encompass the rules of the category.
The rules of No Major Exploits have not been changed, only the name of the category. Please rename your splits and your future submissions accordingly. Thanks for reading.
Effective July 1st, all Glitchless categories for Cars will officially be removed from the leaderboards. The rules were deemed too subjective and arbitrary for fair rulings, clarity, and good competition, and compromises would either not solve these issues or create a redundant or inferior category.
Over the next week, the following changes will be made to the leaderboards:
- Glitchless subcategories on the main leaderboard and the extensions board will be removed. A No Lap Skip and No RTT category will be added in its place if neither are already there.
- Existing runs in the Glitchless categories will be moved to No Lap Skip categories.
- No RTT and No Lap Skip will be added as Individual Levels categories.
- No changes are being made to the current rulesets of No Lap Skip or No RTT.
- Unverified Glitchless runs will be verified as No Lap Skip runs. Unverified off-track resets will be verified, by virtue of being moved to the No Lap Skip category.
Please note that no changes are being made to the existing runs or rulesets of No Lap Skip and No RTT. Moderation unrelated to Glitchless and its runs will be uninterrupted.
If you have any further questions relating to the state of your runs, please message me here or on Discord (tapw).
The leaderboards have been completely reworked for the main categories.
- The main rulesets for Any% (Any%, Glitchless, No RTT) have been moved into subcategories for a single Any%. You can find the old Any% under the Unrestricted subcategory.
- These additional rulesets have also been applied to 100% and All Races, meaning runs are now being accepted for 100% Glitchless, 100% No RTT, All Races Glitchless, and All Races Unrestricted.
Also, sorry if you've gotten any notifications regarding new world records, or your times being beaten. Thank you for your time.
