An interesting TAS from 2010...

This TAS has been sitting online for 12 years and nobody has even brought it up? If even one of the glitches used were to be implemented into RTA runs, there could be a large potential for time save.

In the notes for an earlier TAS (https://tasvideos.org/2564S), he explains how to do each glitch, and none of them seem impossible, if not very hard to pull off.

Heck, I'm practicing floor drilling right now, and I feel like I'm getting decently close. Could just be me, though.

I've seen the tas myself. And while I'm excited to hear you're getting the hand of floor drilling I personally could never get consistent enough at it to start going for it in runs. That being said this game hasn't even remotely been pushed to its full potential.

"shaft zip" has been used in almost every run in this game I've seen.

"High speed head bump" Is just too hard to alternate pressing left and right that quickly. Even if we were to use pause buffering to help at that point it'd barely be saving any time.

"Head glitch" is something I have gone for while I was grinding for wr in this game. It's hard to get since it's practically rng dependent seeing how random bosses are. But when the stars align it's a very nice bonus.

Floor drilling definitely has the most potential in my opinion, Specifically the ones in Circus and Jungle performances. both of them combined would shave off a massive amount of time if done first try.

Fellas be talking about Tempo? Let's go!

Despite my best and intermittent attempts, it's been over a year since I PBd at this point but the floor drill in Jungle is totally worth going for imo. Heck, I even did it on a marathon run last night:

I kinda just echo what @PaPanda has already said. Shaft Zips are commonplace, High speed head bumps (certainly on console) are near impossible in consistency to make for human timesave and head glitch is last resort (WR attempts) time save imo. I believe at least one run on the board makes use of the head glitch.

I watched the TAS when I got into the game and felt the way runners had incorporated the strats were reasonable. There's not much more we can take from it.

Good luck CatBoo

Huh, 2 weeks have passed already? Time really does fly. Sorry for the lack of updates, general life stuff got in the way.

I've been hammering and hammering at all the spots where floor drilling is possible on Kega Fusion, and it has consistently resulted in a whole lot of nothing. I've also intermittently tried to use pause buffering to my advantage, but it still resulted in... drum roll please... still nothing.

At around 2 AM last night, I realized that I was way in over my head, and if the pros couldn't do it, I almost definitely couldn't either.

Ah, but f*ck it. I'm in way too deep now. After all that big talk, I have to contribute at least something.

So, starting today, instead of trying to pull off the trick RTA, I'm instead going to attempt (emphasis on attempt) to dissect the glitch using BizHawk to see if there's anything I'm just missing.

I'd say wish me luck, but I know y'all can only give so much.

I definitely will wish you luck. Please updates us if you figure out anything.
