When does the timer start, when does the timer end. Ones that make sense to me that have been used are as you press A to begin the game and the first frame that the zool team appear on screen at the credits.
how do you know that when it isn't written anywhere on the board yet (is what i'm saying), but thanks.
Oh yeah, also good to clarify to play it in PAL speeds in the rules if it was a PAL only release. Also which emulators are allowed, etc.
We need to make sure people are running at PAL speeds (50 frames per second). It looks like all 3 times on the leaderboards are running on NTSC. This is technically invalid since the game only came out in Europe which is PAL. You can change to PAL really easily in emulator settings and you can check if a run ran on PAL by timing some of the credits sequence. For example I timed from the zool characters appearing to the end of the bit in the credits where it says Art: Michael Hirst and had these times:
1st: 45.73 2nd: 45.52 3rd: 45.61 TAS: 54.54
As you can see above, since the TAS uses the correct region of PAL, it runs 20% slower. Any slight variance there is just due to my rough timings.
I'd recommend correctly relabelling all 3 runs regions to be NTSC and putting them in a misc category of any% NTSC, then wiping the true any% leaderboards and adding the rule of PAL.
Bizhawk can be set to PAL through SMS > Display Type. Fusion can be set to PAL by setting country to EUR in options.
Emulator rules: -Fusion and its core through Retroarch as well as Bizhawk are the only emulators allowed, everything else is banned. -No emulator-only functions such as save-states, slow down, boost, etc.
Fusion doesn't have a core in Retroarch, but the Genesis Plus GX core is considered more accurate than Fusion, so probably should be allowed as well.
