I have a question about when the timer starts and stops for the "Get a house" running category. The rules seem to indicate that the timer should start at the first frame of the beginning grandma cutscene, and end on the first frame of the ending cutscene. It looks like some accepted runs are starting the timer after the beginning cutscene and ending just after the buy button is clicked. Hoping to better understand the specific timings so I can submit correct runs. Thanks!
The timer should start at the first frame of the cutscene. I'm not entirely sure which ones you're pointing to that start it later, but since you're bringing it up, I presume there are some that have slipped by. I'm probably not gonna make a huge fuss about it, since those runs will likely be moved come next update, I've been a lot more accepting of some things I probably would be more vigilant about - if this was any other circumstance, but I can try to keep a better eye out for it in the future since you guys really do seem to be taking runs of this game seriously. ^^;
I know there are runs that, if I was more stringent on, I'd probably also have declined because of their super abrupt cuts at the end of the runs, because some runners have decided to stop their recordings the frame they hit that buy house button so it looks like people are ending their runs early - if this was MOST other games I moderate, that wouldn't be accepted either, but I've been a little looser on this game about that, since the runs being on the main board is only temporary for the time being.
(Another example is the current "All Jobs" run that forgets the treasure hunting job, but that's also in part because I didn't actually know the treasure hunting job was now considered an official job until after I verified @DogKnife's run, so that'll be something to keep in mind later.)
Is it possible for us to change the rules for the timer at the end? I actually never knew about the rules for timing at the end cutscene, since runs from a year+ ago are using the timing method of ending the timer on cutscene start ( for example, first one I checked). Also, the other runs do start at the first frame of the cutscene, but it's really hard to tell because if you spam inputs through the loading screen, it actually skips all but 1 frame of the opening cutscene. Maybe there was some ambiguity there that was misunderstood on my part? Not sure. Anyways, since essentially every runner has been using this timing method for over a year now, would it make sense to grandfather it in as the official timing method? Thanks Beale
