Almost Balloonless (Balloon-ride Skip)

Normally, the player must sit on a 2 minute balloon ride to get up to the Sky Bower. However, breaking the balloon during takeoff and item hovering with a small rock/woodchip, we can skip the balloon ride and fly straight to the Sky Bower, saving around 1.5 minutes.

First, get a small rock. There are 2 next to 2 big rocks on the left side of the hub at the bottom of the mud, and one on the right side near the ant entrance. Bring it up to the balloon and put it on the platform (weave a web to attach it to the platform if you're worried about it falling off).

From here, there are two methods for breaking the balloon; Lasering the webs, or attaching the platform to the leaves as it rises.

## Laser Method:

Weave 2 webs on the left side to attach the platform to the balloon, and 2 on the right side. (This is the exact number of webs needed to get the balloon to take off.)

Make the balloon take off, then grab your rock/woodchip and climb up on the left webs attaching the platform to the balloon. You want to make yourself parallel with the lip of the bottom of the balloon, with your cursor pointed at the webs you're on.

In the background, you can see the branches of the tree merge into one large branch. About 20 seconds after takeoff, the branch will split off. Once that fork reaches the bottom of the screen, wait like .5 seconds, then shoot the web. The webs should break. Immediately start spam jumping to hover with your rock/woodchip. (See here for item hovering via AutoHotKey jump spammer: https://www.speedrun.com/webbed/guide/d5dk0).

If you're too early, the web will break and the takeoff will cancel, but the balloon won't get high enough to open the canopy enough, so you can't fly through.

If you're too late, the webs will turn indestructible as the balloon enters its 2-minute flight. If you quit to main menu and reload your save, you should be at the moment right before the flight started, so you can try again.

## Web to Leaves Method:

When building the balloon, attach ~5 webs to each side of the balloon to hoist the platform. This will allow it to takeoff while help ensure that they will break off later. Breaking the balloon is necessary, otherwise the princess bee will catch us if we get too far away from the balloon. Breaking the balloon deactivates her.

Once the boat takes off, climb up on the left webs and start attaching the left side of the platform to the green wall on the left (where there are leaves). Keep attaching webs until you're about here: https://imgur.com/2MdZ6RJ

Then, quickly grab your small rock (break the web that attached it to the boat) and climb up on the left side of the web again. Once the webs attaching the balloon and platform together snap, start item hovering up the left side of the balloon (See here for item hovering via AutoHotKey jump spammer: https://www.speedrun.com/webbed/guide/d5dk0). The tree line should open up as the balloon stops ascending, allowing you enough time to fly through the opening before it closes.

If the canopy does not open, then the platform broke too early. Stop webbing the platform to the leaf wall sooner.

If the canopy opens, but the princess grabs you on your way out, then the balloon broke too late. Keep webbing the platform to the leaf wall for longer.

AutoHotKey Jump Spammer (WIP)

In the Resources tab, download the AHK zip file, then extract it. Edit the Webbed.ahk file and change it to what keys you want pressed. (Sample below).

Press the Windows key + R key at the same time to open the Run dialogue box. Type in shell:startup.

In the folder that appears, copy and paste the Webbed.ahk file from the zip you downloaded earlier, then double click it. It should now be running, with a little green H symbol in your taskbar in the bottom right. (Right click on that icon and click Exit to end the script).

Dung 1 Skip (Reverse Mudslide + Journal Transition)

It is possible to get past the metal door blocking the bottom of the mudslide area, without ever visiting the dung beetle path. This skips the need to do the beginning of the Dung Beetle path, saving around 1 minute (around 30 seconds faster than normal Reverse Mudslide).

First, enter the ant hill normally and complete the mech ant. Afterwards, return to the Power room and fling up to the gear area. Then, using a right-web fling + shooting lasers down to boost yourself, fling yourself up into the mudslide area, except when you're entering the loading zone, open your journal just as you're entering the mudslide. If you time it properly, the background should still be showing the ant hill area, but you should hear the dung beetle area music. Alternatively, you can also tell by looking at which dot on the map you're currently on. After 1-2 seconds, close the journal and you should be on the other side of the metal door.

If you're too early, you'll still be on the ant area screen with the ant area music, and you'll still be on the power-room dot on the map. If you have journal mapped to two separate keys, you can quickly flick both of them to close and re-open the journal, to try and advance 1 frame forward.

If you're too late, one of several things can happen.

1. The journal doesn't open
2. The screen starts to move upwards slightly, but stops (with some slight screen tear at the top), along with the dung beetle music playing.

How to create practice files

Save files for Webbed are stored in:

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\webbed\default

In here, you'll find save1.sav, save2.sav, etc, for each save slot. Once you have a save at a spot in the game you want to practice, either pause or open the journal to force the game to save. (Note: You can't save in certain locations/during cutscenes, ex. the princess carry, the boat ride, the final bird fight, etc.) If you see the little web icon in the top right, that means the game saved.

Then, make a copy of the respective save.sav file and rename it whatever you want. Then, when you want to reload to that practice save, delete an existing save.sav file and replace it with the one you made (renaming it the same as the one you just deleted, ex. save1.sav, save2.sav, etc.)

Journal Transition Tutorial

Additional info not touched on in the guide:

1. There is a small window on every transition screen where the game drops all inputs. This means if you try to open the journal on one of these very small windows (maybe 1-2 frames), the game will eat your input and the journal won't come out. It hasn't been extensively tested, but I believe the window is right before the journal transition window. This means that if you open the journal too early, you need to flick the journal open and closed in such a way that you avoid the input-eater window, while still hitting the journal transition window immediately after it.

2. During the Dung Journal Transition, if you keep the journal open for ~.75 seconds, two ants should fall on the moving elevator, which will help block the lever from being flipped by any stray dung balls. You can also optionally use one of these ants for Almost Balloonless, if one is able to stay on the platform all the way up.

Moth Skip (Journal Transition)

After the boyfriend is kidnapped, as you enter the loading zone for the hub, open the journal during the screen freeze as the hub loads. This will cause the hub to load, but all physics objects in the hub will begin to fall, including NPCs. Since the Moth doesn't have any collision, he will fall into the void. Keep the journal open for 3-5 seconds, and the Moth should be off-screen enough for you to swing past without needing to talk to him. 

This saves ~5-7 seconds, depending on how long you keep the journal open. If you swing into the hub loading zone with enough speed, you can fling your character down to the bottom of the hub tree while you have the journal open, saving even more time.

Opening Cutscene Skip

By webbing the shit out of the wood pieces like so, you can squeeze through the gap to skip the 30 second opening cutscene. 

First, laser the boyfriend into the pit so he can't start the cutscene. You want to web the bottom wood ~50 times. Once it's relatively open, try to squeeze through. If you can't quite get through, web the top wood towards the right towards the exit, and you should make it through.

I got through the exit at ~:40, whereas normally it takes ~:57 with the cutscene. Done fast, you can get through at ~:32-:33

Reverse Mudslide

It is possible to go back up the mudslide that connects the Power room in the Ant area to the giant gear drawbridge area on the dung beetle path. This skips the need to do the gear puzzle to activate the elevator at the beginning of the ant area, while also giving you a "head-start" on the dung beetle path, saving somewhere around 30-45 seconds.

First, enter the mudslide from the dung beetle path, next to the giant gear. (This needs to be done because otherwise there is a giant metal door blocking the bottom of the mudslide, which only goes away after coming in through the top. https://i.imgur.com/0xWLWP1.png) Once in the ant area, complete the mech ant like normal.

After completing the mech ant, return to the power room and get yourself up to the area where the gear initially spawns. Then, using a right-web fling + shooting lasers down to boost yourself, fling yourself up into the mudslide area. This loading zone is VERY finnicky. If you don't have enough speed, the load won't trigger. Try not to bonk on the walls as you're going in, and make sure to get as much speed as you can using the web + lasers shooting down.
