The problem i have with ads is that ELO first changed the layout of the site (making it worse imo) and then they put ads in the most noticable place possible in the new layout. And not just some simple promoted material, or something that fits the site design, no it has to be annoying auto-play video that pops out to the edge of the screen when you scroll past it. It reminds me of fextralife putting their own stream on autoplay on all of their wikis to boost viewcount, which to me just screams greed and zero care for your community.
I don't see how anybody can defend this decision to add ads. First they decide to stop taking donations and let everyone use previously "premium" features for free, then they change the look of the site and make it arguably worse, just to have place for articles that show up even in runner profile for some reason. And now that reason is clear - they just wanted to hijack that space for ads, because they don't have enough money to run the site, cool. And zero communication on top of that, posting "yo we gonna have ads from now on" on the day they roll out ads is NOT communicating.
Some Japanese runners do runs with their own ruleset, i don't see why you would be different and actually require a category for that. If mod team adds that category it's just going to end up dead after few runs, since the game is already not super active, and NWW runs are not that glitch heavy in the first place. With ruleset you proposed you would pretty much do almost exactly the run that was NWW a year ago, so why not just run that instead.
Everybody has their own definition of a glitchless. And Dark Souls has a lot of grey area stuff, like duke skip or different jumps to lower undead burg. Something like toggle escape can happen even if you didn't intend to use it to gain advantage, would you have to reject such run?
As i said, nobody stops you from running something that's not on leaderboard.
Glitchless is very hard to define, and most people are not interested in it, since it would involve a lot less stuff in the run and that leads to a more boring run. There were discussions about rules for such category, but you would have to ask around in discord to find out about it.
But as people always say - you don't need a leaderboard to run something you're interested in.
Deathcam is tank controls. If you use gamepad, you have to hold it forward and only move it to the side slightly to turn. Most people use keyboard in deathcam, you should try that.
I requested a separate board yesterday before new messages here, because the only responces i've got were suggesting that, and no more responces since then. And it got accepted today.
Personally i don't really care which board should be main, but if it's this one, i would really like to have individual levels added to the leaderboard, because of president report after missions having really good clear timer and i'm more interested in doing that, rather than full game runs.
I've also set up discord server for speedrun discussions: https://discord.gg/fPcEZwG
I'd like to have a responce from one of the mods before requesting a new leaderboard. So far every strat seen in Murpagator run worked in XD, and the only difference seems to be not being able to fully skip dialogue between missions, at least on keyboard which would definetely lose some time, but keyboard has much easier time dashing around which might open up some crazy strats.
Is this leaderboard going to get updated for XD edition? It's seems to be pretty much the same, without the lag. I'm sure there's minor differences, but i can't really say (perhaps some geometry fixes in fight house?).
Or should i request separate game leaderboard?
oh, my bad, i did not remember that from my casual playthrough haha
A52021F1B257C7C35D626D5D642134091C45E4F4 SHA1 of my rom, so yeah, seems like C-BIOS thing Update: I managed to launch FS-A1WSX bios, but the same thing happens. And you are right, the game treats this alerts as an alert from building 2 rooftop, it doesnt stop at all. I kill like 8 enemies otside of elevator, then go to next room, and it doesnt stop. Maybe you can point me in a direction of bios files you used? Or maybe explain how to properly launch it? Might be something with openMSX 0.14.0?
OpenMSX with C-BIOS MSX2+ JP, here is the video of alert going off:
I cant even understand what triggers it, the cameras are far away, they shouldnt trigger anything, but the alert just goes off And as i said before it happens on 2 roms (one translated and one japanese) from 2 different sites, so might be a problem with MSX bios? Can it be that game plays different on different bios? Translated rom also did not have much lag with 3-4 enemies on screen, while japanese lags heavily with 4 enemies on screen.
Is there a specific ROM that should be used for emulation? I tried 2 different versions, translated and japanese (that was advertised original), japanese felt way faster, but both versions had instant alert in B1 Floor 2 when getting out of elevator, and dunnius tas video did not have that alert (it was triggered by camera tho). And i kind of want to do that part with no alerts, even if it's slower.
Is it allowed to run on emulated MSX2 version? There is no runs of it, and i'd prefer to run on Emulator, instead of launching my PS3
