I understand where you're coming from, but in the speedrunning sense, the most optimal way to play is to not switch the camera in the first place. The most popular places to use free cam, you could just use auto cam whilst holding both camera triggers.
There is NO reason to keep CCEF.
It sounds like either you haven't seen my proposed method or you don't understand it. The runs would still be void, except they would remain on the board until that person beats their own time, or until enough time has passed where the runs would then be removed anyway. Separated by a variable on the boards, of course.
I've explained another method of keeping the runs with CCEF on the board in the Discord server too. Either method is fine to me.
Completely remove all modifications that aren't 100% required. This includes Camera Code Error Fix and the 63fps mod, which as you said, will become redundant anyway.
CCEF is, despite what anyone says, absolutely an unnecessary game modification that has no reason to be allowed other than "people already use it". As I proposed in the Discord server, the move to this newer, balanced RTA system should include a full ban for ANY game modification, because it would make it much easier to deal with.
I've also repeatedly heard that people want to keep CCEF because "other game versions have it", which I think is not a reason to keep it at all because there's this mythical thing called 'version differences'. This means people will have to choose which version of the game they want to run depending on which features or differences they would like to use.
Last of all, I think you forgot to mention anything about BetterSADX, which is also an unofficial version of the game created through the combination of two different versions. There are known issues with BetterSADX that not only differs from any official version of the game, but also causes gameplay to differ whether good or bad.
tl;dr: ban all unneeded game modifications including CCEF and BetterSADX with the transition to balanced RTA.
This fix will only work for NVIDIA cards. If your drivers crash with any other card, please contact me.
Graphics drivers crashing usually lead to a black screen with sound (possibly looped) still playing in the background. It will continue to hang for around 2-5 seconds. This guide should fix the problem completely, as well as help with other known issues.
- Right click desktop, click NVIDIA control panel.
- Click 'Manage 3D settings' under '3D settings'.
- Click the 'Program Settings' tab.
- Select sonic2app.exe either by using the drop-down or pressing the 'Add' button.
- Look for 'Power management mode' under the settings and set it to 'Prefer maximum performance'.
- Press apply
This should help, if not fix the problem. If there are any other issues, please feel free to comment.
The idea has been experimented with before, but it didn't work out. We have always kept these kind of stats on www.soniccenter.org along with ring attacks and score attacks. Sorry :P
Beurt460, there will probably never be any level leaderboards for any of the Sonic games on speedrun.com All Sonic ILs can be recorded over at The Sonic Center. Here's the link for Sonic Lost World's page: http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_lost_world/times
Oh damn. I actually did this with the other series mod, but he doesn't have a Twitter linked to his account. I messaged and got in contact with him and totally forgot about messaging the other mod. I ended up only looking at his speedrun.com profile where it says he was last online a couple of months ago and then forgot the rest. My bad guys :D
I think that idea from Werster would be good if coupled with the ability to see how long ago they last verified a run.
Hello. I would like to acquire moderator position for Extreme-G 3 at http://www.speedrun.com/Extreme-G_3
I've talked to the only active series moderator, and it seems as though the 'series moderators don't have power here' button has been checked. I was added as a moderator for the series, but I can't edit the game. There is only one moderator there and they have been inactive on the whole site for 2 months. Could I get super mod status please?
Note: I'm not hosting this marathon, but I'm here to spread news.
Sonic Speed is a planned marathon that will be showcasing various speedruns from many Sonic games. It will be starting sometime in February 2016, raising money for Child's Play @ http://childsplaycharity.org/ .
The two main organizers are Paulie9990 and LittleBigness who can both be found at their respective Twitch channels.
The marathon is invite-only, meaning that you can only run a game at the marathon if you are approached by one of the two organizers. However, you could still contact them if you do feel that there may be some needed change.
You can find the marathon's Twitch channel at http://www.twitch.tv/sonicspeedmarathon and more information on the marathon here: https://goo.gl/BlATzm
This is not where you post about this. Please post this kind of thing in the /sa2b forums. Your run was rejected for multiple reasons. The video footage you had sent was some of the worst we've had submitted to us. The feed was very small, flipped and recorded with what I assume is a webcam. You don't have a timer running on the video either, which is generally a thing that you should be doing.
It is not acceptable to post other people's personal information on the internet, especially in a public place where anyone can view it. I suggest getting a better setup and doing this again. Or you could crop the video to only show the game, flip the video, stretch it out to fit the screen and show a timer with the game. -SA2B moderator
I'm afraid that you are not able to reduce input delay with this method. Make sure you're not using a front panel USB or try using a different USB port or even a USB 3.0 port. I also believe that running the game in fullscreen will help with frame rate and input delay.

Late reply, but I don't see any kind of "glitchless" category being added to this game any time soon. If, perhaps, it does get added, it would be considered a misc category and would not be taken seriously. You can still speedrun Hero story without going out of bounds and submit that to the Hero story boards.
I very rarely do a few 'Hero Story No-OoB%' runs on my stream, but it's always fun to change things up a bit. It doesn't have to be official for there to be competition for it.

As an experienced speedrunner, I can say that disallowing the use of the console to kick bots is a stupid idea. The goal of any% is to complete the objective as fast as possible using what the game gives you. This means that any cheat code or hack would not be allowed unless the community fully agrees with it.
However, the use of the 'kick' command can be fully utilized without enabling cheats. If the game doesn't consider this a cheat, I don't either. What about people saying that large skips or glitches shouldn't be allowed because it's "cheating"? Using the kick command is just making use of what the game has given you (which by default, it does not allow cheats, but does allow kicking).
My full opinion as well as many others.
I found a way to get behind King Boom Boo and hit the hourglass early. This was already found, but this way is more consistent. I've yet to find a good way to actually make King Boom Boo start running the other way like you can see in this video without him killing me first.
I'm not aware of anywhere you can go to find information like this except here. I'll happily help you. The time you split generally doesn't matter, except for, of course, the first and last split. I'd recommend splitting when the stage gives you your rank and the noise plays for stages. For bosses, split when the screen fades to white. For the final split, you should split as soon as you get the last hit on Shadow, not when the victory animation plays. If you have anymore questions, just add me on Skype: a_moustache | I'll also add you to the Sonic Speedrunning Group =D
I found this cool clipout in Death Chamber that will get you from the blue room to the gorilla's hideout room next to the green room
