Howdy! I'm new to running it myself, also 100%. Bomb triggers get easier to do. I have issues getting the 2 bomb drops into a pit triggers though. Rooster skip is actually kind of easy. I was scared of it too, until I got to when I needed to practice it. Got it down pretty nice. Buffered that it is, haven't tried unbuffered.
I'm learning to run the game myself (100%), I do know the map quite well even though I hadn't played Link's Awakening since before DX came out. So I'm using my knowledge of where things are (heart pieces, seashells, etc), and the tricks to map out my own route. And I'm just practicing the tricks over and over. Every few days I then start playing through the game using save states and will save at every trick, like the Moblin Skip. I just do it over and over until I can get it about 4 times in a row, then move on through the game. I pick a stop point and just restart from there until I like my own progress then add more parts to the practice. I've now added practicing those small playthroughs but without the save states so I can also practice dealing with the RNG.
Has the title suggests, I'm new here. Been interested in speed running for some time now, practicing SMB1 and 3 off and on but wasn't really feeling it. Trying to figure out what game I wanted to start trying to run, etc. Then I saw Zorlax's run at SGDQ and right then decided that I wanted to get into running Link's Awakening, right now I'm practicing 100%. While I love it to death, my favorite Zelda game, I got bored of playing it before there was a DX version lol. But I've downloaded the emu+roms from the resource page, and actually have a cart of JP 1.0 coming in the mail so that I can practice on the go. Guess I'll wrap this long winded bs up with just a simple howdy, I'll be stalking the forums ;P
