Actually, the "Used Continues" option is kind of the 1CC filter already, so I might as well add a little note there clarifying that.
I could make it into a run type or one of the options when submitting your run. The main categories themselves have branched out quite a lot since this post was made, and so an entire 1CC category might be a bit much.
How did you find a Deathsmiles cabinet?? I have been wanting to get my hands on one forever.
In my 29:20 run on January 31, 2023, the Capacited Flux boss skipped over the death animation, and seemed to grant the boss an extra hit point before that happened.
I was just playing World of Dreams again, and discovered the same glitch between health points, effectively skipping over one left-right missile phase. If we can figure out what causes that glitch to occur, we can exploit it so that we may possibly only have to face the left-right missiles once.
I ran some tests to see what might cause it, but as it turns out, the number of bullets it takes to deduct one hit point is strange indeed. I fired bullets one at a time at it. Once, it took me 14 hits on the first phase, another time, it took me 22. It seems that the first phase is supposed to take ~20 hits, but I'm not sure if it's because the bullets sometimes count for 2 hits, or if the game changes the number of hits it takes. I'll keep this thread updated if I ever find anything new on this glitch.
If I happened to miss your run and am not responding to Speedrun DM's, you can reach out to me on any of my other linked socials. Discord is the platform you're most guaranteed to find me outside of Speedrun.com.
I know, it took me forever, but for anyone who owns Deathsmiles I & II on the Switch and would like to use that platform for speedruns, I've made that option available now.
I wanted to know what everyone thinks about the 1CC requirement for runs since I don't see it very necessary. What do you think we ought to do with it? Three different ideas come to mind.
- Keep the 1CC the main requirement
- Forget about it
- Have separate categories for each
It took me a few days to figure out, and extensive searching through forums, but subcategories are being set up! Some runs may need to be moved, so I would like to apologize for that, but I'm certain this more organized payoff will be worth it.
It has been brought to my attention a re-release for Deathsmiles among other CAVE games are currently available on the Apple Store. Therefore, iOS runs will not be discontinued on the scheduled date, however, it does not look like they plan on re-releasing for Android, so Android runs will still unfortunately be discontinued on the scheduled date. If they re-release for Android, I will open that platform back up, but starting February 22, runs for Android will not be open if they don't.
To anyone who is considering running the Xbox 360 category, please either use the MBL or Normal categories instead. The Xbox 360 is a platform, and was a category brought up by the old moderator. Seeing as both Xbox 360 and PC, among any other platforms I missed, have both Normal and MBL options, this category is not necessary, and will be removed a month from making this post.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please write them as a reply to this post. Thank you for your understanding.
Oh, now I see what you mean. I'll add that in as well, then.
@Jum-Kernel_in Individual levels have now been added! You can check them out at the left panel, below Full-Game Leaderboard. Enjoy!
Hello all. I'm glad to see that there are people who are still trying to beat their PB's and competing for the fastest time in this game.
However, I know there are some of you who prefer the mobile version of Deathsmiles, for iOS and Android. This edition of the game was available on CAVE's official page on Apple Store and Google Play, but has been discontinued a few years back. The only way it's available now is through torrent by third-parties.
To that end, it is with a heavy heart that submitting runs for iOS and Android will stop being allowed a month from making this post.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this matter, or feel that this is unnecessary, please feel free to post your arguments here. Thank you all for your understanding.
Do you not agree with any speedrunning rules for this game? Do you have a run that would make a better fit under its own category? Let me know your feedback here and we'll negotiate something.
Hello, and welcome to the Deathsmiles speedrun page! Being the new moderator for this game, I will be the one verifying your runs and managing the rules and categories.
I would like to apologize for all the people that have been awaiting verification on their runs due to the previous inactive moderator. Please be patient just for a tiny while longer and I will get to them as soon as I can. Thank you and have fun!
@ShadowDraft I have read the post and I believe I have now met all the requirements.
Once again, I am requesting to become a moderator for the game Deathsmiles, as the previous and only moderator at the time has been inactive since 2019. I tried direct messaging him to get my run verified, but to no avail.
Back in July, I submitted a speedrun for the game Deathsmiles, but the run was never verified. The sole moderator for that game has not responded to my request to verify it, and by the looks of it, the moderator's account has been inactive for a while. I didn't want to come here for such a predicament, but I feel that I've waited long enough, and it doesn't look very promising that the game's moderator will suddenly come back. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
