I'll try to help as much as I can but this won't be my top priority so I can't make any promises.
As for standardizing timing I was never satisfied with having to wait through the entire final narration, maybe there's an easy way to split on the last input when the screen fades to white and Edith says "This is where your story begins."
A few notes: ¤ It doesn't seem to be useful walking backwards before triggering "I got turned around" ¤ There seem to be walls that teleport you to specific points: a few meters before the deer scene and "things I forgotten had ever existed" ¤ If someone could time the differences/explore this zone maybe we can consistently skip... probably 10 seconds. I'm not sure it's worth it.
