It would be NG+100% then. It might help, but I'd wait for a feedback from others.
There would also be the ammo upgrades, but those might be too much :)
100% implies grinding, since the game has this kind of economy. I'm for the new category.
To me upgrading sub-weapons would go against Low% philosophy, but it's not even necessary in this specific run: gathering enough money for an upgrade with only the sub-weapons takes for ever, the fights are to a minimum to keep things fast and there is simply no need for an upgrade anywhere.
- The autosplitter is meant to time the whole run properly.
- I've never heard of any other leaderboard using autosplitters imposing an unchangeable list of splits.
- Again, I have very practical reasons for keeping some manual splits. I just don't want to lose my times, since it took a year to get them.
- I don't feel like I did anything wrong against anyone and I don't feel like I'm making it more difficult for the mods to verify my runs, even if splicing would be harder with a complete room per room autosplitter.
Alright, here we go.
- PC version, everbody.
- The autosplitter is mandatory.
- I download the autosplitter as it is.
- The splits for each room somehow mess up my sum of best, forcing me to remove them, keep only my old splits, making them being recognized by the autosplitter and removing the single room splits from the autosplitter code. Still using the autosplitter regularly.
- I keep splitting manually on a few specific splits that, not occuring on the player entering a room, cannot be tracked by the autosplitter. The autosplitter still handles the final split, so that the time will always be nice and accurate, but I split manually during the run on some occasions to keep my times consistent. Still using the autosplitter.
- I get contacted by @If_And_While because he is worried that I'm not using the autosplitter and I'm going to invalidate my runs. I explain him the situation, highlighting the fact that I do use the autosplitter very correctly and not making a secret of my manual splits within the run, since they are legal and not affecting the final time in any way.
- I get a world record with the autosplitter set this way.
- My world record gets rejected by @If_And_While. Official reason is I didn't use the autosplitter.
- I used the autosplitter.
I'm pretty sure there was an unfortunate misunderstanding, so I will sit here and wait for my run to be rightly approved as there is no reason to reject it.
@PriceyRyan I already setup a specific channel for that, if I wasn't enough of a meme already.
Also, I was asked to apply as a moderator. I never actually applied because I don't have a ton of free time to review runs, but I am available if @MODS think it is fine.
Hi, everyone. I have set up a very simple Discord server for the whole series, since right now the few members of the community are scattered throughout four or five different servers. If it's okay for you, I will give the mods the invitation link to add it on the page and ask the same on the other games' forums and on the RE series Discords.
Then lock the current PC category instead of coming up with random banned softwares. I care a lot about Gemini's patch but, as long as it is not available, I don't give a damn. Duckstation is emulator, not PC version, and I don't care about comparing PS1 with PC either. It's not even the point of this thread, and we already clarified that we have different opinions about which version is better.
DuckStation is not an alternative, but a totally different platform. The issue with the PC port is temporary and will hopefully be gone as soon as possible, but it is still an issue to aware new runners about before they throw hours of grinding into it.
Okay, so 3/4 seconds matter? I have no problem with either way of starting the run, but since we have an autosplitter we could use it.
It wouldn't have to be retroactive. The runs already done will be 3 seconds slower, so easily improvable.
On top of @Vendettavic 's notes, I can recommend checking the framerate with GeForce Experience or Fraps or similar software for top accuracy. Optimal speed in game (not inside menus because framerate there goes brrr) for the PC port right now (with or without dgVoodoo, excluding the future REbirth patch) is 63/64. The game does flicker between those values, and I'm told that you can also see 30/32, but the game should run at the same speed (the doubled framerate should be just a visual glitch).
