I have never wished I had a better PC more than right now in this exact moment.
An idea I had that I ran by Palmer was starting timing upon selecting "Yes" after naming Ari. this would simply give players the freedom to name Ari whatever they please (including a single character to potentially save time on text boxes). A simple retime of each run would take place in this scenario, shaving a couple seconds off each but not changing current placements.
Any thoughts on this?
Hello all!
First, I wanted to say thank you to Palmer for adding me as a moderator. I won't be making any changes at all to how the board is structured, however I have linked the Okage Community Fan server, which has added a Speedrun channel per my request! This gives us a tangible place to interact and share strategies, as well as putting most of the game's fan base in a singular location.
Server can be found here at this link, but it is also linked at the top of the page.
Hello all. Was messing around with item sliding and sequence breaking using some old stuff found on an SDA thread and managed to find a skip in the game that saves over 90 seconds and ain't too bad to perform! I call it Marlene Skip. You only get one shot at doing it unfortunately, luckily its quite easy! You can use any item that serves no function with the exception of consumables that don't work on the overworld (such as a Guidance Jewel). This means Tiny Gear works, Mere Pebble, Ordinary Card etc.
This skips over the cutscene where Marlene dies. I got the whole sequence after recorded as well to show that the game progresses as normal etc.
I would like to clarify the exact starting and ending frame for categories using screenshots if we can. I have noticed a few descrepancies between the few runs that are here.
This isn't a complaint by the way, just an observation and a request for clarification. Thank you!
Excellent work shaobruna! If somebody were to execute this skip quickly during a speedrun of the game, it would save more than 4 minutes!!!!
I wanted to make a separate forum post about this just for clarity and to sort of organize all things related to it.
clix_gaming found this skip and mentioned it in another forum post related to solutions for the Sudoku and Crossword puzzles in the game. This was done on the PAL version.

I messed around with it myself before seeing the clip and managed to figure it out as well, but in a very slightly different way in terms of positioning and such. This was also done on the PAL version (on Duck Station emulator).

The basic idea is to take damage, then while Mituki still has invincibility frames, dodge roll into the lasers. The animation of the roll itself will cancel the animation of getting shocked. After rolling into the lasers, do a kick to cancel the animation, followed by another roll. If you manage to get a bit over halfway through the lasers, the knockback sends you through the other way instead towards the exit.
This skips needing to get the electromagnetic key, go to the cafeteria for the Notebook with the Sudoku puzzle, solving the Sudoku puzzle and inputting its solution into the central terminal to disable the lasers. Exact time save is hard to determine, but its a couple minutes at least.
As of this post itself, it is not known if this skip is possible on the Japanese version of the game. The higher frame rate could make it much more difficult. Will report back!
I ended up messing around myself as well yesterday and figuring it out too. My method looks the same from what I can tell. Figured I would post mine here too for more science/research. This was on the PAL version, running the game on the most up to date version of Duck Station.

Would love to know more about that skip. Tried to find a video of it and couldn't.
Can we get some categories please? The game has been out now for a bit. Thanks!
The layout change is now over. A few things to note.
-
If anybody happens upon a run of Break the Targets, Board the Platforms or either of the Race to the Finish modes that isn't in the right place (incorrect character etc) do let me know. Everything should be 99%-100% correct.
-
In the coming days, I will be adding various spreadsheet times from the WR Spreadsheet.
-
Runs can now technically be submitted for the original SSB cast on Break the Targets and Board the Platforms, but they should all be rejected and redirected to the SSB leaderboard instead naturally.
Lastly, let me know if there are any further questions, concerns or wanted changes. Happy running folks.
Hello all!
I'm going to be doing a bit of a restructure of the Bonus board shortly. I am also going to take that time to update some of the times on our board to be accurate with the community spreadsheet.
The short version is that the Bonus board will be a bit easier to navigate and the board will be more accurate! As a result, over the next 48 hours or so, some things might look a bit weird on there, but rest assured no data will be lost, expect some notifications though more than likely. Thanks!
I can get started on the process shortly depending on exactly what everybody else wants. Much thanks!
I don't think it was implemented in the first place actually. I have noticed some discrepancies as well from the times mentioned above to the times that are actually displayed on the board (in particular, the former 1st place time by Casj is listed here as a 1:02:XX but on the main board it is displayed as 1:03:XX).
