go to main game leaderboards -> Resources -> SM64 Resources (Google Doc) ->Singlestar Records
No need for an extra leaderboard for this, as the race alone and the single star as is would not be enough of a difference to justify it's own category
You can go into Options -> Settings > ROM Settings -> Default Save Type
Change it to 32kbytes SRAM
That way every time you reset you start without any savefile at all.
He does. He literally declared timing ends on collecting the wingcap star.
So first of all thanks for actually using the correct forum for this instead of the main category one.
Now let me add that getting through that wall of text is not too easy. I will try to get some structure into this:
- LBLJ is banned
- all cap stage stars are required
- all cap switches must be pressed
- timing starts at fileselect and ends on touching the last capstage star
- suggested route: BoB 1, WF 6, CCM 8, BitDW no reds, metalcap reds+switch 9, vanishcap reds+switch 10, Wingcap reds 11, reenter wingcap stage to unlock wingcap (the time is already stopped, tho)
The last part of the route is a joke ... I know you meant spawning the wingcap reds star, then pressing the switch and then collect the star.
I personally do not like the idea of this category, but would I actually be interested I would suggest the following changes:
- allow LBLJ as it is not neccessary to add a star requirement. Wingcapstage already has one.
- remove the requirement of cap stars, stop time on last switch press
- start timing from reset to keep consistency with most categories that do not allow introskip (or allow introskip)
@WookisDaOne few people will work through those walls of text everyone builds up when suggesting a new category, few suggestions are structured in a way that makes it easy to comprehend to the reader. Almost no suggestions contain an example run. If not even the person suggesting a new category has enough passion to:
- structure their post in an easily understandable way
- make an example run so people can see what the category could look like
- proofread their posts before posting to spot obvious mistakes are you really wondering why it does not catch people's interest enough?
I think it was either 8.5 or 12 A presses per second. Also make sure you actually release the A button.
@BestGamer I would recommend you to ask on the SM64 speedrunning discord. Here on the forum you will run into trolls like Shadow64.
Also mods will most likely not ban you for something like that, the worst that would happen will be the mods rejecting your runs for it. I don't think bans will happen for suff that is not clearly intentional cheating, except if you do it repeatedly.
@Geek007 and also why do people keep reviving weeks or even months old threads?
CRT has almost no input lag, while flatscreens will almost always have some input lag.
usamune is a romhack, so no, only vanilla.
@Bowserjr2011 No you cannot. It is TAS only.
If you need general help I would recommend looking up the guids you can find in the "Guides" section and reading through those relevant for you. If your questions become more specific and not already answered in the guides come back here. Noone here will just type out a full guide content in the forum, as everything is already available with just a few more clicks right on this website.
The one tip I will give you right now is stick to beginner stuff at the start, you will most likely not be able to challenge world records within just a few weeks/months anyway, so take your time learning the game instead of trying to learn too many fancy tricks at the start. Doing beginner stuff good and becoming consistent at that will give you better times faster than trying pro level stuff and failing 50% of it each run.
Guys, there is actually a 30 Star category, it is in the "Misc." categories.
But for those referring to 31 Stars: The point is that it was the "any%" category before Mips Clip was discovered, making it a "legacy any%" category (alongside 1, 16 and 70 Stars, which are also legacy any% categories).
For the actual 30 Star category ... I have no idea what it's point is, but I have to admit Fluffey could have a point, as it really just sounds like a race category.
No coins are allowed. "You are not allowed to collect any coins, [...]". Red coins are coins, blue coins are coins, as it is made very clear by them increasing the coin counter.
So that would be: 0 Star: change nothing 1 Star: change nothing 16 Star: impossible 16 Star noLBLJ: impossible 31 Star: no bombclip, no pillarless, no CCM lil penguin, no mips star 70 Star: no bombclip, no Pillarless, no WDW100?!, no lil penguin, no 2x mips. Did I miss anything? Does not seem much. 120 Star: impossible
So in short: just leaving out "grabbing" stuff is not interesting at all as it changes very little about the actual run.
EDIT: Also: This belongs into the Category Extensions Forum! EDIT#2: Also also could people please choose another title than "New Category" when suggesting a category? Like what is so hard about making the title "Category Idea: No Grabs" so people know what to expect?!
I am going to assume you mean running 16 Star blindfolded.
First of all let me warn you that running blindfolded takes an insane amount of dedication and practice. Do not underestimate it!
Also there is a blindfolded gaming community that will be able to help you way better than any of us here could ever do.
There is the site blindfoldedgaming dot com They also have a discord server, which that site links to, which has an SM64 channel.
Be aware however that you cannot expect to be able to finish your first 16 Star blindfolded run within the first few days. If you are not willing to dedicate a lot of time to practice I would not recommend trying to go for a full run.
I mention this because there was a cheater out there claiming to run blindfolded with barely any specific practice, and some people who did not know the game well enough fell for him. Even pro SM64 runners do not have an easy time learning single stars blindfolded, let alone attempting a full run.
I hope it is ok for the Moderators that I mentioned the site, if not just delete my post ^^
Isn't Andorid based on Linux, so if it was done on Mupen64Plus it is fine?
