"Timebug" happens when the in-game time is not equal to the real time. I first found this when looking at AlKoTho's Silverstone lap times in GT class during their career mode speedrun.
I decided to investigate further. I took a race three of us did (Springfield in GT class) and compared our first lap IGT to our first lap RTA. I timed the RTA by taking the first frame of the first lap (basically when the timer first goes from .00) then taking the first frame of the next lap. Here are the results:
AlKoTho (PC, 30 FPS) IGT: 1:38.94 RTA: 1:38.333
alchemistake (PC, 30 FPS) IGT: 1:42.62 RTA: 1:41.367
AdamLikeScars (PS2, 30 FPS) IGT: 1:42.26 RTA: 1:42.333
I am unsatisfied with how the Career category looks. Currently, there is the three classes in a variable and NG/NG+ in another variable. I feel like this could be simplified though.
My idea is to have one variable with an "Any%" (basically PRO Class NG), then have single seasons for each class which would be NG+. I would like to consider other ideas from the community before I make a decision.
I've been having a hard time trying to pinpoint when the fanfare starts, especially in videos with not-so-great quality, so I've changed the time ending to when your final score starts to turn dark right after it is being calculated. I chose this because it is the first sign that your score is final, and it is an instant and dramatic change in color so it is much easier to pinpoint the ending frame.
With that being said, I had to retime every Friend Connection run to align with the new rules. Some changes in ranking happened, but nothing of significance in my opinion since 1st-4th has not changed.
I've made some updates for the past few weeks that I think would be important for you all to know.
I have moved some guides to resources and added a new guide, check it all out!
Along with the re-arrangements, I have modified the main rules. The updated main rules include the reset timing policy. This was established years ago by GamingLand but it made no sense to me until recently, so most runs that used restart in 2020 and early 2021 likely didn't face the penalty, and I apologize about that. If you have a run that was put under these circumstances, don't worry about it. I will start enforcing the restart penalty though.
I lastly added PAL names for 3 minigames and made the rules for all ILs look cleaner.
Hey y'all, so we just did 2 significant things to the CPU Difficulty variable. This was made possible due to some tests made in the category extensions leaderboard.
NEW VALUE: N/A N/A basically just replaces the blank values. This makes the leaderboard more professional and easier to understand.
VALUES NOW OBSOLETE BY EACH OTHER When the values obsolete by each other, only your PB will show up regardless of CPU difficulty. This makes the leaderboards look much cleaner. If you want to see an obsoleted run you did in a different CPU difficulty, you will need to filter the leaderboard by the desired CPU difficulty. I created a poll for community approval, and a 10 to 4 majority were in favor of this change.
The purpose of this thread is to suggest adding/editing categories, subcategories, variables, and/or levels for the category extensions page. There are some rules/guidelines that I very highly encourage you to read and abide with.
GENERAL RULES/GUIDELINES
- In one post, provide your suggestion, and explain it.
- feel free to discuss suggestions, but I recommend doing this in the Discord server to prevent clutter.
- If your suggestion gets rejected, I will provide an explanation of why I rejected it. I still want the CE leaderboard to have some sort of presentation, this isn't an "add everything" type of deal. I will not delete the rejected suggestions so that other people don't suggest them again.
RULES/GUIDELINES FOR NEW RUNS
- You must have a video with your suggestion post. No pictures.
- I may require a set amount of different runners to run your suggestion with video evidence depending on how deserving I think the run is of being added.
We have category extensions now! https://www.speedrun.com/wii_party_category_extensions
The page is staying pretty barren right now because some final tweaks have to be made, I have a busy week so don't expect stuff like adding categories to be done immediately. In the long term, expect stuff not in the main leaderboard to appear (e.g. party games multiple players/controllers) and other stuff. For now, we can discuss category extensions stuff in this thread or of course, the Discord. I would like feedback on the theme, the current one is a placeholder unless people like it as it is.
I have realized that people found a loophole in the "All 1v1 Minigames Win" speedrun where they can get several seconds of timesave if they do Commuter Count as their last minigame and stop the timer when "finish" is displayed.
To align with the fast exiting rule for Commuter Count, I have retimed some speedruns so that they end when the actual passenger count is first displayed. As a result, Babalee loses his WR status to WiiSuper because there were less passengers in WiiSuper's Commuter Count minigame, RNGesus gets the best of all of us I guess.
We have also encountered a situation where someone started speedrunning with all 4 players but they would make P2, P3, and P4 become CPUs via Autoplay in the pause menu. We don't know the difficulty of these Autoplay CPUs, so I decided to add "Autoplay" as an option for the CPU Difficulty variable list. I will be adding CPU Difficulty variable guidelines in the Main Rules if at any point it gets confusing.
If there are other situations where people end their All Minigames run too early by a loophole, let me know in Discord or in this thread. Also, you can still vote in the poll if you haven't yet. Please don't vote again if you have already voted: https://www.speedrun.com/wii_party/thread/xjdig
EDIT: I have realized that it wasn't really a loophole. It was just a poor moderating job in our end.
Hello people. Me and Randomno are working on adding win conditions for Pair minigames so you all can speedrun All Minigames and All Pair Minigames with a win condition. We have figured out win conditions of almost every minigame based on what you need to do to get normal sized Mii's in Balance Boat.
There is an exception however, and it is Jump Rope Jam. This Pair minigame is not in Balance Boat and it doesn't have a clear win condition by itself. I have decided to start a poll to see how people really want to "win" Jump Rope Jam.
If you would like to participate in the poll, click this link: https://strawpoll.com/2wxxb2df6
ONLY VOTE ONCE PLEASE! The poll expires August 20th, 2020, 12:00 AM Central US time, but I may end it early depending on if a certain choice is winning by a big enough land slide, the poll gets exploited, there's a bug, etc. Questions about the poll can be asked in the Discord server or this thread. Have fun!
I added route options for Delivery Duel. To identify which route is which, go to https://www.speedrun.com/wii_party/resources .
I am moving all the minigames from the level leaderboard to the Full-game leaderboard. Make sure you move all of your minigame speedruns to the newly added Full-game categories, 4 Player Minigames, 1 vs 3 Minigames, and 1 vs 1 Minigames. I have deleted every minigame in the level leaderboard, so make sure you have your videos saved and re-uploaded to the new full-game categories! I made this change because the Pair Minigames simply would not work as individual levels. I added a Pair Minigames full-game category. I will add stuff for it too, but I need to get my Wii U fixed.
