Tetris for CD-i is a somewhat unknown game for most, unless you are a CD-i fan, or have heard of it's relaxing vaporwave soundtrack.
Yet not many have actually considered playing it. I'll straight up admit it's not the most fluid, or easy to control game. However, I have found lots of joy playing the game, and personally it is one of my favorites.
For me, it's a hybrid of Tetris for NES, and Sega's 1988, Tetris for arcade. The rotation system resembles Sega's version (with a few hiccups) as well as the fully random pieces. On the other hand, there is no lock delay, much like Nintendo's Tetris. I believe this is the only game with this particular ruleset and thus makes it a unique entry to the series.
During my time playing for points, and trying to top the TwinGalaxies leaderboards, as well as my own personal bests, I kept thinking, what would it be like to speedrun this game. Unfortunately it is not very popular, so I took it upon myself to establish a community.
If you're new to the CD-i or Tetris on the CD-i, look forward for my setup guides and tutorials coming soon.
I hope to see your relaxing runs soon!
