Here is a detailed guide on speedrunning South Park for PS1, from general guidance to strats and glitches.

General Notes (E1)

  • Dodgeballs and snowballs are your friend. Use dodgeballs sparingly because they run out quick.
  • Dart gun/Plunger is useless in most cases, but works if you run out of ammo.
  • Use snowballs to take out turkeys. Saves ammo.

Episode 1: Operation: Turkey Butt

Stage 1: Faire Game

  • There is a place to go out of bounds next to the school:

  • Face right, while moving up?/left when dropping out of the map (watch a run if needed), then pay attention to your map. Make it into the shape of a slightly skewed X.

  • If done correct, you’ll hear gobbles, then after a few seconds you’ll see yourself land on some snow

  • Keep going until you fall off the map again, then immediately make the map the shape of an X EXACT.

  • Wait for green dots to appear on the map, then put the map back in the shape of a skewed X. if done correct, you’ll loop near the exit, if not directly onto it. (It’s a bit finicky. You get used to it the more you do it)

Stage 2: Turkey Shoot

  • Use the super Dodgeball against ALL tanks, and Snowballs against turkeys. Get good with weapon switching, it will be useful later.

Stage 3: Search and Destroy

  • In the caves with the hordes of turkeys, there are some doors in which turkeys respawn and the goal is to kill all to open.

  • Next to the doors turkeys will spawn (after killing the ones out in the open) they will start spawning in the same exact spot. Some things to note about this;
  • If you are CONSTANTLY firing, turkeys won’t respawn. You need to stop firing.
  • Don’t look in the direction of WHERE they spawn. For some reason the game won’t spawn the turkeys if you’re looking right at it waiting for them. Look away, then look back and they will spawn (applies to one mother of a ship level too with the aliens)
  • Example of looking away: (Notice the map, the turkey spawned as soon as I looked away)

Boss Fight

  • Dodgeballs are your friend. T&P dolls are ineffective because turkey moves around too much. This is the ONLY time the dart gun is slightly useful, and only if you run out of ammo (bosses hit box is pretty crap)

Note: This also applies to the next level as well, so I won't bother covering it here.

Episode 2: A Clone of Your Own

Stage 1: There goes the Neighborhood

  • Use super Dodgeballs against ALL tanks. There are plenty around the map. All other weapons are out of the way and a waste of time to grab. The fastest ones to grab are these:

In front of the first house on the left

In front of the 3rd house on the right, there are 5. This should be plenty for now. You'll grab more along the way. (There are also some T&P dolls behind the building with the two dodgeball pickups. Worth grabbing.

  • There is a cow launcher in this level. Ignore it entirely. It’s useless.
  • Seam jumping on the crates does NOT work in this version, nor the 64 version (64, the clones can launch you over the crates) Kill ALL the tanks.

Stage 3: Warehouse Run

Stage 4: Mother Lovin' Spoonful

  • Grab the speed boost from the house on the right side in front of the brown house.

  • When you get to the police trucks, instead of going around, you can take a straighter path by jumping into the middle of the two trucks, then jumping again quickly because you will get stuck, doing so correctly will brute force the trucks out of your way allowing you to go straight through.

  • Boss is extremely easy. Sniper chicken 2 shots it (bad hitbox though so don’t do this) but for any% just use dodgeballs. Perfect hits should take about 5 to take him out fully.

Episode 3: Close Encounters of the Bovine Kind

Stage 1: The Visitors Return

  • Grab Kenny first. Then jump over the fence on the side of his house to grab Stan.

Note: It's very possible for Stan to wander off into the caves.

  • Cows do 5hp damage each hit. With a horde of them, it’s very easy to die. Kill all cows before trying to kill the tanks. It’s NOT smart to do otherwise unless the cows are far enough away and you’re fast enough.
  • Manage your ammo. It’s easy to run out of dodgeballs in this level.
  • Towards the end, there are platforms with goodies on them. On the second one in the area of the exit, Jump on the platform and grab the T&P dolls.

Stage 2: One Mother of a Ship

  • Very straightforward level. Just kill all aliens. Their attacks almost always miss so it’s not hard at all.
  • There are 52 aliens. Or to keep better track, your score needs to be 10,400 for the final 2 aliens to appear.
  • After the alien ship cutscene, go left to the blue crates, and behind it is a secret room the devs put in with a ton of goodies.

  • Go in here, grab the T&P dolls (do not use them) and whatever else you need, then just go out and kill the aliens,

  • Towards the end, the spawns will slow down significantly. Kill an alien, look away, and if that spawn takes more than 4.5 seconds, that means the spawn moved. This can happen randomly.
  • Once you've killed all 52 aliens and achieved the score of 10,400, 2 blue outfitted aliens will appear. Kill them both, and the key will appear next to the ship. Collect it and that is the end of the level

Stage 3: Blow the Core

  • These are the list of rooms you can either run past, or must kill enemies to proceed. (Assuming you are taking the correct path):

Starting room: Can run past

Room 1: Must kill 2 aliens

Room 2: Must kill 2 aliens

Room 3: Can run past (Grab the warpo ray on the second floor. Stand on the platform for about 3 seconds then it will move.)

Room 4: Must kill 4 Aliens

Room 5: Kill the bunny, then kill the enemies in the room.

Room 6: Can run past

Room 7: Must kill 2 aliens

Room 8: Must kill giant alien

Room 9: Can run past

Room 10: Must kill all aliens

Room 11: Can run past

Room 12: Can run past

Room 13: Must kill 3 enemies of any combination

Boss Fight

  • Use the T&P dolls you picked up. These will take the boss out quite fast.

Episode 4: Something Wicked This Way Clunks

  • MANAGE YOUR AMMO. While the T&P dolls take the robot tanks out the fastest, you’re gonna need them later, this is only a 2-level episode.

Stage 1: Seismic Rumble

  • For tanks, Use either the sniper chicken that’s next to Stan, or use the Warpo Ray. I personally use the Warpo Ray, as it’s very fast, and there’s plenty of ammo for it on the path.
  • Try to stay as stocked as you can on T&P dolls. You’ll need them for the E4 boss and all of E5. Otherwise, this level is straightforward and doesn't need much explanation.
  • Some doors require specific robots to be killed. They are usually placed up high. Use the Warpo Ray to kill them.

Stage 2: Nutz and Boltz

  • The entirety of this level is skipped via clipping out of bounds.
  • Ignore the boys. You don’t need them.
  • Follow the path on the left side until you get to the very tall rock with a green robot near it.

  • Run and jump into the back of the rock up against the wall, while facing to the right, and strafing up/left. Wait a second, and you’ll start shaking like crazy and eventually pop into the wall. You’ll probably be standing on an invisible floor, just jump and you’ll fall through.

  • Use your map as guidance, like how you did in the very first level. You want the north arrow on it to be pointing EXACTLY to the left, while you are strafing up/right.

  • You will eventually level loop onto the roof of the final boss room (pay attention as you can easily miss seeing it and run off the building)

  • Drop into one of the holes on the ceiling and go towards the door you normally enter in. The cutscene will trigger and the boss fight will begin.

Boss Fight

  • Boss is super easy and simple. Chuck a few T&P dolls at em, and he goes down instantly. Though, use these sparingly, as you need them for E5.

Episode 5: Some Disassembly Required

  • Hope you’ve been saving your T&P dolls. Ammo management is a bit difficult on this one.

Stage 1: Toy Rampage

  • Ignore the boys
  • You can skip past every police truck. Here's a breakdown of how to skip each truck:
  1. While strafing up/left and facing right, you can squeeze through behind this truck

  1. Strafe up/right while facing left to jump over this truck. Same with the next.

BE CAREFUL AFTER THESE TWO TRUCKS.

It's very common for the level to not be fully loaded in when you approach Stan's location. DO NOT LEVEL LOOP. It is NOT faster. IF you accidentally level loop, try to back up just a little bit, and pray you loop back into the level.

  • Do NOT skip the last truck. Kill all tanks. If you don’t, you just added 2 more 15 second+ loading screens.
  • Use 1 T&P, and then the sniper chicken OR warpo ray to finish these tanks off. But keep in mind they LOVE to roll, that slows you down unless you want to use another T&P doll which I don’t recommend, as you really need the T&P dolls.

Stage 2: Parking Problem

  • You can jump past all of these walls in front of you.

  • There are items and such in some little square areas you’ll want to grab. The first one that’s in front of you here has nothing useful, but the 2nd and 3rd have Warpo Ray ammo, and some T&P dolls you’ll want to grab.

  • DO NOT skip the truck. You technically can, but it’s slower because the tanks near the end won’t spawn without the other tanks either being dead or have reached town.
  • After the cutscene, drop down into the ditch and go right. Grab all the T&P dolls, go up the ladder and continue on.

  • Use a T&P doll to quickly take out all 3 spitting dolls on the boxes, then use the warpo ray to take out the remaining toys on the ground. (There’s a spitting doll on the ground too that’s easy to miss so watch for it)
  • Tanks will spawn in, and quite a few. Best thing to do is on the first wave, use up to 5 T&P dolls only. If you run out, use the cow launcher. There are two on each side between the dumpsters.

Stage 3: Batteries Included

  • Avoid using T&P dolls so much. Save at least 5 for the final boss if you can. 3 will do fine too usually, just depends on luck.
  • Take out the tanks using the cow launcher once, then the sniper chicken or Warpo Ray.

Final Boss

  • Use the T&P dolls and aim for the chest. Unfortunately the hitbox is very jank, so sometimes you’ll get direct shots and it do no damage at all.

  • Backup Strat for if T&P dolls fail, use the Warpo Ray. It does a ton of damage. Sniper chicken is next best but slow.
  • Do NOT let him charge up. If he does, his hit box gets much smaller and harder to hit.
