Emulators

I don't see why NEStopia, FCEUX, and OpenEMU are not allowed. They are, as well as Bizhawk, allowed emulators for the main Super Mario Bros. Leaderboards.

We haven't tried out those emulators to see if they are accurate. This isn't a basic ROM like Mario 1. Due to how more advanced this ROM is, this won't work on all the hardware that SMB1 could. This game doesn't work on a standard Everdrive N8, but works on Everdrive Pro, while SMB1 works on both. That could also mean that this game won't work on all the emulators that SMB1 can accurately. Bizhawk is the only emulator that we've tried out and know that works well. We will add more emulators when we get to testing them out.

from what i remember when this hack came out i had no issues with it on nestopia. that was also 5 years ago but still. that was before i got into speedrunning. the only emulator i remember this not working at all on was virtuaNES. but then again that emulator sucked.

I don't know if it's my pc or what, but in Jnes I don't think it works either because when loading the game it kind of freezes, it's a color bug.

I remember on my old laptop fceux working but that could just be a fuzzy memory

Yoshiabel did it look like an orange screen then a garbled mess of sprites?

no. tropes hundred colors came out. but now I tried it in fceux and there it works

After tinkering around with FCEUX & NEStopia, I can conclude that those emulators can be used for speedruns. I've added those two to the list. As for OpenEmu, I do not have any Mac devices myself, and cannot find a version that will run on Windows. So there's a little hesitance on allowing that emulator since it hasn't been tested yet. If another moderator has found OpenEmu to work well then it can be added.

Leaderboard Changes

Hello everyone. We're working on an overhaul for the SMAS (NES) leaderboard. Here are some of the things we have added/changed:

  • Setting milliseconds to reflect the original leaderboards thresholds.

  • The addition of Luigi categories for Lost Levels.

  • The addition of Both Endings/All Stages/A
