Im just getting into 16 star, my route is 1 star in bobomb battlefield, 5 stars in womps fortress, 2 stars in ccm, and bowser. Should i replace ccm with secret slide? the stars i get in ccm are wall kicks will work and baby penguin that sadly in a speedrun i cant murder because it loses time.
If you're doing 5 stars on WF and then you go to CCM is better to do: Wallkicks Will Work, Lost Penguin and Slip Sliding Away (this star with a optimal way to do it takes 20 seconds as average which is faster than going out of the level and then opening PSS door)
IF you replace CCM with PSS you will be 1 star short in basement meaning you gotta do a extra star there (If you do BitDW's reds then not but is not recommended for beginners)
Duplicated you added in 1 extra star because you forgot to account BoB star.... I beg of you, Poggers, to go to the mario speedrun discord and ask questions there because you'll get better advice. That being said, if you don't have the Usamune Practice ROM, you should get that to actually practice the CCM stars more effectively. They're really not bad.
Yeah, wkww isn't that bad. The for the beginner strategy where you fall all the way down from level spawn, it's pretty easy, xcam time around 16-17s should not take you long to get with a little practice. Once you're ready to start the sideflip into wall kicks, there's a little white circle texture on the wall that works as a great spot to aim for, hitting the wk from there usually makes me fall into the star.
I actually have never screwed up Lost Penguin, it's that easy. Grab bird, slide down the hill in Mario cam, land in the puddle. The only thing to be aware of is going too far right over the gap can trigger a breeze that will flip you on your belly, and drop the bird into the abyss.

Yeah don't switch. Even if you do the slide skip, the ccm stars will be faster using beginner strategies.
You don't want to purposely learn slower routes because it's slightly easier. Aim to do the fastest strategy you can.
