So MadWasp found a way to optimize skipping text on PC, so I'm trying to test stuff out on console (PS4 specifically). My initial investigation included changing the text to Single Box Skip and alternately mashing O and X (I'll probably change bindings for ease). This method was faster during my test on First Turnabout, but similar to MadWasp, it'll definitely affect your hands over the course of a run. I'll try to find possible alternatives for better text, and if someone has any ideas or information, let me know!
Thanks to MadWasp for the idea
Interesting that you chose Single Box Skip, I had that on when I was playing through the game normally and when I did my 6:30 run on The First Turnabout, but as soon as I switched to Full Box Skip I saw massive time drops, could just be coincidence as it's possible I just got better at mashing/making less mistakes. Something to think about at least.
Mashing on Full Skip actually looks slower. Side note: Best First Turnabout time I've gotten so far is a 6:16
I've just recently tried this method out and it's crazily fast! I found a bit more success with Single Box Skip than with Full Box Skip, managing to get a 5:50 on The First Turnabout.
Did a quick experiment with Japanese and English text using the aforementioned method...6:10 First Turnabout on English and 6:15 on Japanese with no major selection mistakes in either run. Obviously my mashing was probably inconsistent, but I believe Japanese text is slower on console.
P.S- 6:10 is my new best time in First Turnabout
I did my first few attempts on Japanese, but after you mentioned the speed difference I went back and checked the first cutscene, and English seems to be slightly faster! I think this might also be the case overall since I managed to improve my best attempt by a few more seconds.
I might try main game runs soon without practicing the other ILs. I also need to find the best and most comfortbale PS4 binding for text. Triggers seemed a bit off, but I think I might do L1 R1 for now.
Due to some issues with related discussions of what constitutes as an NG run in the Trilogy, It was decided that the Trilogy NG leaderboard will be scrapped. Instead, any run that was formally on the Trilogy NG leaderboards have now been moved to NG+. If for some reason I missed your run somehow, pl
