Cryptic Conundrum All Icons, a hack by Espik

Best Starter Pick: Any except Emolga

Why?

  • Final Boss is not an issue in this category so there is no need to pick a specific starter for an easy battle (with the exception of Emolga who has Static)
  • Still recommend to pick the female gender

Dungeon Layout FAQ: Link

Aether Avenue: Small-Medium #2: 1-2F, 5F Medium-Large: 3-4F

  • Options: Far-Off Pals: Self
  • Set Eevee to Wait There, only have Swift and QA enabled
  • Do not worry about picking up items, you are gonna lose everything anyways

After the dungeon:

  • Answer of the first prompt does not matter, press A

Prompts in the void: -> 2,1,1

  • Make sure to NOT mash A at the start, picking option 1 on the first prompt will throw you into an infinite loop

Foreboding Forest: Small-Medium #2: 1F Small: 2-3F Medium-Large: 4F

  • Key Head 1F (do not bother wasting time looking for it)
  • Get Oran Berries
  • Pick up Rock Smash at 4F

After the dungeon:

  • Teach Rock Smash over Baby-Doll Eyes
  • Smash the rock

Crafting is available. However it is not very useful in this category, you really just want to craft Reviver Seeds and Stair Orbs. So the only dust you want to look out for is the blue one (Remedy Dust)

Heal Seed: Plain Seed + Remedy Dust Reviver Seed: Heal Seed + Remedy Dust + Oran + Max Elixier

Luminious Orb: Plain Orb + Sporadic Dust + Bright Dust + Shiny Essence Stairs Orb: Plain Orb + Shiny Essence Totter Orb: Plain Orb + Sporadic Dust + 2xIllusion Dust

Key: Key Shaft + Key Head (get Normal Dust in Impure Treehollow or 3xRevs in Dampened Cave)

Dungeon Order:

In order to unlock the secret dungeon, you are REQUIRED to do the following order:

Withered Field -> Impure Treehollow -> Faded Highlands -> Dampened Cave

  • This means you have to do the Withered Field MH floor with no items, very fun!
  • You can find a Slow Orb in Withered Field
  • If you are very lucky it is also possible to craft a Totter Orb if you find 1xPlain Orb, 2xGreen Dust and 1xPurple Dust in Foreboding
  • If you don't have anything you may have to fight the MH or if you are desperate get lucky with Baton Pass

Before you enter the first dungeon:

  • Teach Baton Pass over Rock Smash
  • Teach Assurance over Metal Burst for Bisharp
  • Only enable Faint Attack on Bisharp

Withered Field: Small-Medium #2: 1F,3F Small-Medium #1: 2F Crossroads: 4F Outter Rooms: 5F (this one is not in the vanilla game, rooms are arranged at the border of the map like a square, so do not check any path that leads to the middle) One Room Monster House: 6F

  • Set Bisharp to Wait There
  • Theres a chance to find a Slow Orb here

Puzzle: Start (empty tile) up left left up right down down left up right down right up up left left down down right up right down (remember, you can reset the Puzzle with R if you made a few wrong inputs)

Impure Treehollow: Small-Medium #2: 1-6F 4F: Maze (move left, Baton Pass until you are close to the Reviver Seed + get the free Revive at the end) (thanks to Espik for pointing this out)

  • Very high chance for Oran Berries! Seeds however are very useless
  • Very good Orbs can spawn! (Luminious, Stairs, Quick, Slow, Slumber, Totter)

Puzzle:

  • Ledybas, you can skip 2 at once
  • Cutscenes

Faded Highlands: Small-Medium #2: 1F, 5F Baton Pass: 2F Medium-Large: 3F Beetle: 4F 6F: Mines (dash UL into corner then use Baton Pass until you are close to the stairs)

  • Only dungeon with Shiny Essences, make Stairs Orbs out of them!

Puzzle: Talk to Bot Left - Bot Right - Bot Left - Top Right

  • Bisharp is going to ask you a few questions at some point, just mash A (answers don't matter)

Before you enter the next dungeon: Teach Rock Smash over Baton Pass

Dampened Cave: Medium-Large: 1F,3F (Treasure Room: 3xRevs) Small-Medium #2: 2-5F Medium Small-Medium #1: 6F

  • Good Orbs spawn here (Stairs Orb, All-Mach, Foe-Fear)
  • Seeds are decent too
  • Don't pick up any Aqua Essence

2F: Rock Smash UP 4F: 2l,3d,2l,3u,l

Puzzle: Botleft, Botright, Topright, Topleft, Middle

  • Press No when prompted to open the dairy

  • You will see a new unique cutscene when waking up, that means you successfully unlocked the dungeon!

  • Use the bottom path to enter the secret dungeon!

Welcome to Cryptic Conundrums 99F level reset dungeon, Undiscovered Offlimit! Lets start with pointing out a few important information:

Mains: Bisharp: He starts with Iron Head, which is the only move that deals decent damage in the first floors. So you have to spam it early on until you reach ~lvl6-7. It will also be his only STAB until he gets Faint Attack with lvl 17. That means you will have to live with a weak Scratch (and a useless Fury Cuttter) for most of the dungeon until he gets very powerful with Faint Attack. This is why you want to look out for TMs as he has 2 move slots he wants to fill as soon as possible. You have a few good options:

  • Stone Edge, False Swipe and X-Scissor are powerful moves thanks to their very high Base Power
  • Wide Slash and Dark Pulse are AOE which is very useful especially in the Monster House floors
  • Dark Pulse is his most powerful option and should be prioritized over anything else, Thief is also a good STAB move with a lot of PP. If you find either of them he will become very powerful
  • if you find early Facade and Secret Power TMs they should go to Bisharp first to fill up his 2 free move slots!

Full TM Pool: Dig, Brick Break, Aerial Ace, Facade, Secret Power, Rest, Thief, False Swipe, Shadow Claw, Stone Edge, Thunder Wave, Dark Pulse, X-Scissor, Poison Jab, Wide Slash

Eevee: Starts out with only Tackle, and will almost deal negative damage at the start (sadly not a joke!). Thats why she needs to let Bisharp deal with everything until she reaches ~lvl6-7. Luckily, the hack creator was kind enough to grant her Eevees Generation 6 moveset so she will learn Swift at lvl 10 and Quick Attack at lvl 13. She actually becomes good at some point! (Vanilla Eevee wouldn't get anything else until lvl 22 with Quick Attack which you would not reach in this dungeon). She also does not want any TMs until she can get rid of Rock Smash after 41F, you got a few options:

  • Facade and Secret Power are the main moves you are aiming for
  • Dig is probably the only viable non-normal type move for Eevee as it has a 2x multiplier, making it even with her Adaptability boosted moves. It gets very useful for anything that resists normal types, as Adaptability falls of hard in that case (though sadly most ghosts types in this dungeon have levitate). If you already have a good TM, I would hold on to Dig until the last 10 floors where its gets really useful due to the game spamming Steel and Ghost types at that point
  • Eevee can learn Bite at 17 but its only a small increase in dmg for the ghost types, and Bisharp learns Faint Attack at the same level. Its still worth teaching over Rock Smash after 41F if you have not found anything else
  • If you are past 41F and you still need to replace Rock Smash, Iron Tail is at least a better option for Ghosts than Bite is thanks to its high power, but is terrible for everything else
  • Rest is pretty good for sustain
  • Be aware that Wide Slash is typeless so it does not get the Adaptability boost

Full TM Pool: Iron Tail, Dig, Facade, Shadow Ball, Rest, Secret Power, Frustration, Wide Slash, Natural Gift, Agility

Useful Items:

Berry & Seeds Common:

  • Oran Berry
  • Max Elixier
  • Reviver Seed Uncommon:
  • Blast, Violent, Sleep, Totter, Eyedrop, Blinker, Heal (3%) After 55F these items get added to the pool:
  • Sitrus Berry, Life Seed, Vanish Seed, Joy Seed
  • Stat booster
  • Quick Seed After 95F: Golden Seeds, X-Eye, Pure Seed

  • Quick, Luminous, Evasion,Stairs, All-Mach After 20F:
  • Slow & Trawl Orbs After 55F:
  • Decoy, Slumber, Totter, Invisify, Foe-Fear, Foe-Seal Orb
  • Orb pool is very large at that point with a lot of garbage After 81F:
  • Evasion Orb, Luminous, Trawl, Decoy, Slumber, Totter, Invisify, All-Mach, Foe-Fear, Foe-Seal
  • At this point there's mostly good Orbs

Food

  • Apple, Big Apple, Gravelyrocks
  • After 31F: Gummies start spawning which replaces the Gravelyrocks so at that point the brown rocks are guaranteed to be real

Held Items

  • Heal Ribbon, Power Band, Special Band, Def. Scarf, Scope Lens, Insomniscope
  • In the guarenteed Monster House floors a lot of good held items can spawn for example X-Ray Specs and Goggle Specs, if you are fighting everything you should check all items after you are done! After 95F:
  • Mobile, X-Ray, Warp, Persim, Goggle, Pass Scarf (You do not really need them at that point)

Monster House rates

  • 5% - 10% (start spawning at F51)

Layouts Small-Medium #2: 1-33F (very few rooms until around F11) Small-Medium #1: 33-66F Medium-Large: 67F - 99F

Static Rooms & Floors

  • 2F: Stair is surrounded by Mud Traps (+ Shape)

  • 19F: Monster House
  • 23F: Rock Smash (l d2 r4 u4 L)
  • 29F: Miniboss: Snorunt, Drifloon, Volbeat (I recommend to throw a Totter Seed at Snorunt to stop him from using Icy Wind, focus on defeating Drifloon quickly)
  • 31F: Maze:
  • Tactis: Wait there, kill everything around the Warp Tile (take care of Skorupi quickly to stop it from spamming Acupressure), then its RNG whether you get warped to the right side of the map
  • Once you are at the right side, you should take care of the drifloon as soon as possible. I recommend to save up a few rocks for it
  • 37F: Monster House (Be careful of Houndours Beat Up, recommend saving the speed items for this one)
  • 41F: Rock Smash (r3 d2 r2 d2 l3 u l u l2 d2 r d) Last Rock Smash floor
  • 43F: Treasure Rom Rev + Key
  • 47F: Miniboss: Seviper, Porygon, Haunter (let Bisharp fight and use Rocks or Quick Attack in the back, focus on Haunter first
  • 53F: Mines (wait there, r ur3 r ur3 ul ur r ur2 r ur u ur4 U R)
  • 59F: Baton Pass next to stairs (just defeat one at the edge, then you can run diagonally to the stairs)
  • 61F: Treasure Room + Key
  • 67F: Fill-In Orb Maze (pick up top left orb, let Bisharp deal with the ghosts)
  • 71F: Mines (wait there, ur2 r4 ur2 u2 r ur3 u7 UL dl L DL )
  • 73F: Monster House (They have safeguard so no Slow Orb or Totter Orbs after the first turns)
  • 79F: Perish Song next to stairs (use Heal Seeds if it hits you! Evasion Orbs will help the leader dodging it, you can also use the remaining Quick items to rush to the stairs)
  • 83F: Miniboss: Vespiqueen
  • 89F: Crobats ~12 (press a+b turn 1, fight is free!)
  • 97F: Perish Song

Congrats, you have beaten the dungeon!

  • A cutscene will play for a while
  • When you gain control again, open the right chest for 2 free Protect TMs
  • Teach them immediately to both, over Rock Smash for Eevee, and over anything not named Assurance and Faint Attack for Bisharp
  • Talk to Zorua and challenge him to a battle
  • Keep in mind, you only have 1 single chance for this battle. If you lose here you are locked out of the dungeon and the icon for this save so you have to try again in NG+ if you do not want to reset

Zorua (~350HP), Finneon (~400HP): Threshold for Assurance: 175 and 200 HP

  • SET TACTICS to Lets go Together

  • You will need permanent uptime for Protect, they have quite a ridiculously OP moveset and you don't want to risk getting hit

  • That will be quite annoying for Bisharp since you need to switch his moves all the time

  • Also be careful of Zoruas Counterbasher, which unfortunately goes through Protect so do not let get yourself 0HKOd by it

  • Which means no Violent Seed for you if you do not have any Revives left, give it to Bisharp instead since he is allowed to die

  • Shadow Force also goes through Protect

  • Worth mentioning is Finneons Brainwashing, which Eevee is luckily immune to, but Bisharp will become a (permanent)? enemy in this battle if hit by it without Protect! In that case Bisharp will be your enemy but you are not allowed to defeat him!

  • Once you win the battle, you will receive very good items (Mobile Scarf, Agility!)

  • You want to teach Agility over Bite for Eevee

  • Talk to Zorua and leave the dungeon

  • Its time to finish the story now!

  • For the next dungeons you can quickly rush through it with Agility and Mobile Scarf, it shouldn't be much of an issue

Aether Footlands: Small-Medium #2: 1-2F, 6F Small-Medium #1: 3-4F Medium-Large: 5F

  • Set Bisharp to Wait There and only enable Faint Attack

Santuary Grounds: Small-Medium #2: 1-2F Crossroads: 3F Medium-Large: 4F

  • High Oran Berry Chance, decent Rev chance
  • This dungeon is very short, but in return this is the only story dungeon where Monster Houses can occur
  • They get increasingly more common each floor, however this is All Icons you can just Agility through everything

Missigno (~600HP):

  • Use Protect, then walk left

  • If Bisharp is not petrified: Agility -> Swift/Faint Attack -> Agility -> Swift/Faint Attack -> Agility -> Swift/Assurance -> Swift/Assurance

  • If Bisharp is petrified: Swift -> Agility -> Heal Seed Bisharp/Faint Attack -> Agility -> Swift/Faint Attack -> Agility -> Swift/Assurance -> Swift/Assurance -> {Swift/Assurance}

  • If Bisharp is petrified and you do not have a Heal Seed: Keep using Protect + Swift

  • Make sure to choose "Yes" when asked to forgive Eevee, the good ending is actually faster!

  • Timing ends on fade to black before credits

  • If you missed the secret dungeon and you do not want to reset the run, you can go through NG+ to get another chance to beat the dungeon and the boss. In that case timing ends when completing the next save on a kangashkan rock
