To be honest, Wii U production stopped almost a decade ago! People sold their consoles, the consoles are breaking, and a lot of them are now slow and unreliable.
Emulators solve this, undoubtedly. Not only will it solve the problems above, it’ll allow the community to open up a bit more and make it more competitive! Of course an argument can be made for just buying a Switch and playing Deluxe, but a lot of us would prefer to save the hassle and speedrun it on our computers without the trouble.

For example, Citra's performance is not as good as the original hardware. Most people that have a Wii U probably have a Switch and Deluxe is about $40 at GameStop or Amazon.
As somebody who decided to speedrun an EVEN older game at the end of the day and got the console for it, I'm going to have to agree that whatever excuse I made was an absolutely awful argument. I have a 27 year old console sitting here and it works like a charm. lol
