Yo I was thinking of running this on ps1, I’m not sure if there are any differences. But it’d be super dope to be able to join the ranks!
Not aware of any differences, but I'll look into it. Start running the game and if there aren't any differences just submit your runs and i'll add them. If there are differences, i'll make a system dropdown so people can sort between PS1 and N64. I'm pumped!
N64 seems to load into the game 10 seconds faster. I wonder if the transitions between quarters are similarly affected.
Holy cow just found the options for screen loading. 10 seconds is probably not accurate. Will see what I find!
compared our runs side by side and found not much difference at first but more difference in game in terms of loads. about a second in load time when entering the game which is no big deal buuut
at the end of quarter from the time "end of first quarter" pops up to the time the play screen loads in i found a greater difference.
Quarter 1
About 7.21 seconds on PS2 with FDS About 3.46 seconds on N64
Quarter 2
I have halftime stats turned off so it went straight from EOQ to second half FDS PS2 took about 7.03 seconds just for this
About 2.49 seconds on N64 from EOQ to halftime stats screen About 2.32 seconds on N64 from halftime stats screen to kickoff fade in
Quarter 3
7.33 seconds on FDS PS2 3.66 seconds on N64
Also, I notice that you end each quarter by going out of bounds (which I assume is the fastest way to do so, so I didn't include the time before the End of Quarter screen comes up, only the time from it appearing until the playscreen appears in the next quarter.
In total, for just those loads in a single game. ~21.57 on FDS PS2 ~11.93 on N64
Gameplay to me appears to be about the same, but the load times are different. I am sure there is difference in load time after each dead ball as well but I'm not gonna time that right now.
I leave this information to you moderator, decide if you wish to split the leaderboard by system or have all runs be on the same leaderboard despite the load differences.
Not worth splitting the boards. I tried for a bit on n64 emulator and it didnt seem to make a difference.
ya, only difference I saw were slightly longer loading times on PS, some of the plays are named differently and there are some additional cutscenes on PS.
Also, pro tip, don't mash through the Super Bowl pop up too quick, first time through it crashed haha
that run i shouldve reset anyhow, i ended up playing in the wild card round. was a good lesson to learn
