Definitely work on the timing. Getting your inputs as consistent as possible is the key, I can get the speed from speed start with my eyes closed bc I've devoted the timing to muscle memory. As for the momentum high jumps, Esben advice is probably your best bet.
If you don't know how to get the speed from the starting slide, I have my speedstart tutorial lol
It's honestly just practice. I got the timing a bit by accident and once I realized what I was doing it became super easy. Once you understand what you're aiming for to get the speed, it's pretty easy to get it consistently. After that, in my opinion the hardest part is timing the first jump. The momentum high jumps are just practice, lots of practice. The last few weeks I've been playing 30mins-1hr just to get speedstarts.
Isn't there some issue about speedstarts and resolution, or is resolution issues only for TASes?
correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the old speedstart was frame-specific, resolution-specific, and faster. however, my experience has led me to the conclusion that the old speedstart is now impossible. when I came back to speedrunning MMO for a bit, I was unable to replicate the old speedstart with little success, whereas the method Einsteiner discovered does seem to work, though I have yet to master the setup with 100% consistency
https://www.speedrun.com/posts/h84gb Old speedstart is possible but barely slower.
