Malice xemu xbox emulator now playable

When I first started running the game I tried the xbox emulator xemu and during cutscenes the game slowed to a crawl then ran fine during gameplay. Now that issue is gone, all that remains are graphical and lighting issues but they're minor.

The xbox version has atleast 2 extra skips over the ps2 version that I currently know about. I'll write up a full post documenting my discoveries/differences between versions with videos in the near future.

What skips are those? Just asking because the ps2 version is actually a gold mine for skips and stuff. I tested a lot of things way back on original hardware and let's just say there is a lot of potential and I really do think there is a lot more to find on the ps2 than the Xbox. When my run gets verified you will see some new skips that I found years ago just never got around to doing a full run of this game but I think you'll find the ps2 version is where it is at for skip potential due to it being a bad port.

Also you can stack damage buffs to delete the queen bee boss and speed up other bosses. https://www.speedrun.com/malice/run/y9x36gey

Also Ive done it twice now but you can clip through the door in juju mans cave without handing in the keys. Still not sure how that one is done.

From doing a full run of xbox you cant clip through the 2nd robot puzzle level and it seems the other side is actually active in that room so the clip might not be as useful as on ps2.

2 things about xbox is its the better version for soul% as the ship you jump on isnt solid on ps2. And when you get the club you can mash A and you'll be able to move before malice is back. Other than that xbox just losses time on robot maze.

The juju man cave is a simple thing to explain but hard to do. I call it a load jump, you can do it all over the game but basically it is double jumping slightly before you hit a load trigger, with practice and line ups you can get them somewhat consistent but you only get one attempt at them because once you have hit the trigger it goes away unless you reload the level.

Something else I know about that I didn't go for in my run is clipping into the witches hut without fighting the crows. There is some weird hit boxes on the left of the tree and with a good double jump swipe (I will refer to these as DJCs because it is basically a Double Jump Cancel) you can clip into the tree and trigger the loading zone to progress without having to fight any crows, issue is this is by far the hardest trick as I haven't found a line up for it.

As for the mechanical/clockwork levels they are a fiesta for skips as you will see in my run.

There is also a prison skip. Just after you get your hammer back if you go behind the safe and DJC you can clip out of bounds and run to the load trigger, skipping the slowdown power up and the fight just after it.

I also discovered something new in my current PB. In the bomb maker section I was mashing to skip the crows dialogue and ended up very high out of bounds, I was in the middle of a run and didn't really experiment with it but just another thing to add to the list.

I have also found many other OOB that I am still experimenting with but I might have a Pipe n Drum skip fairly soon but this one is more of a theory craft then an actual strat at the moment.

But yeah that's basically all I know about at the moment, I am sure there Is much more stuff to discover especially since OOB in this game seems really easy to pull off as long as the maps hit boxes are a little weird you can get out of bounds with speed boost very easily most of the time.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas of your own for skips and such :) also here is the run in case the mods for this game aren't active or busy

I saw your run and feel dumb that i thought you needed double damage boosts, it appears you only do 1 and still get the same result.

Also the boosting oob looks cool, i have plenty of ideas now, ive really wanted to skip more, like the gloop river, pipe n drums, and the brown cogs in memory maze.

I have tried messing with memory maze using your method in the gloom tunnel, where you clip through the door slightly and die but had no luck sadly but hopefully you can find success with that, game definitely has potential to be full of skips since the end of level triggers are always active unless it's a key or an item.
