Differences between OG hotline and RR
Will leave some notes just in case if anyone was as reckless and desperate enough like me to run this thing. Also I was bored.
As a point of reference, I'll be using Updated version rather than Original one since nobody even plays that trainwreck.
- I don't know what's with everybody saying about crashes. I've been playing that mod on my old shitty 500$ laptop (Lenovo ideapad i320) and didn't manage to get a single crash durning any given run. Sure, memory leaks due to shit original coding are a thing (strongly recommend to restart the game after every single attempt), but still... Might be a graphic card issue (my both devices have Nvidia geforce), not having a dedicated GPU, or just not having a strong enough PC. (works consistently on nvidia/ryzen tandem?)
- Mask perks included: Tony, Don Juan, Brandon, Rami', Zack, Rick'', Jones, Jake, Earl''' (?), Peter'''' ' - Does not work on random spawns, assault cops and special static enemies. '' - Does not work aganist assault cops and dogs. ''' - Not sure, who cares anyway, it's barely ever going to save your ass lmao. (edit: doesn't work) '''' - handicap (edit: doesn't work either?) Not all global masks are included. F.e., Ted and Louie are not there for obvious reasons.
- To skip vast part of dialogues like nightmare scenes/tutorial/phonecalls you need to start rightclick afterwards, not beforehand after triggering the scene.
- Decadence boss seems to have more i-frames as he gets up.
- Upon explosion on Tension, a huge-ass red artifact appears that obstructs your vision even more. (edit: I'm almost sure it's the explosion range, should the field collide with your hitbox as it occurs, you'll die.)
- Contrary what snowfats said, biker warp works just as well. However, door setup is impossible since cleaver is guaranteed to never even touch its hitbox for whatever reason - probably a clank prevention thing due to cleaver going too deep into the wall. Clanks will still consistently happen upon cleaver hitting the desk or corners
- Biker has Brandon speed durning Resolution (both apartment and actual level).
- You can punch fatsos and dispatch them by execution a'la Tony from hotline 2 (can also stun them with melee weapons, not just fists) - be aware tho, if you shoot one and then punch him, when he gets up, his health will be fully replenished. Decadence boss can also be punched for one-time only, interestigly, he seems to get up slightly sooner in that case.
- Deadline AI is fucked up across the board - melee people on 2nd floor are very likely to proceed through farthest path of the door, and all four statics on 3rd have high tendency to leave the rooms they're in to chase you (both can be seen on my pb). (edit: vengeance 3 is menance as well, see edit note 3 paragraphs below on why it does happen)
- Entering the car through rear doesn't work.
- It takes 3 hits rather than 2 to dispatch showdown Panthers. Also, the boss doesn't have an animation of pulling out his MP5s therefore he'll start shooting you as soon as you advance through the dialogue. Biker boss kill also doesn't have an execution animation.
- All AI across the board seems to react or/and shoot faster. (edit: could be because original doesn't have inaccesible nav mesh for AI around the solid entities like the updated version does therefore they'll see you faster and more preciseful from over the corners)
- Clean Hit waiters can be killed with fists.
- Getting killed on assault 3 after punching Richter will consistently result in a crash log (can only happen if the level was lauched via the level selection). (edit: same will happen if you lure enemies into the elevator before chief's dialogue)
- There's a chance that stage/chapter complete messages will not be displayed at all, red arrows at floor transitions are only clue whether you have killed everyone or not at that point.
- Phonehom manager in prankcall cannot be killed with a throwing knife.
- Oh yeah and there's no restart button so if you softlock at safehouse/fun&games due to filthy AI seed and instictively try to restart the level you'll probably instead quit to the menu and invalidate your run that way omegalul (edit: thanks for breaking emotes elo)
