As the title says, what's the difference. Plus how do I even run on the old engine or m3sa beta. The recourses and guide section don't seem to have anything on it. Yes, I know running this game is a bad idea, but I like bad ideas.
to get the beta you go into the properties of the game on steam, go to beta and use the password "Password2Short" and it unlocks it, then you just download it. the difference im not too sure entirely, as I tried to run it and it basically would just crash every time I equip the rifle after I load into Canal. The hospital section is very slightly changed. if youre not fussed about that then Id suggest just staying on the current patch as atleast its stable
Some levels in the m3sa beta are corrupt and crash as soon as loaded (the second level of C-17 as an example) and some levels are broken in other ways (the start of chapter 3 is just broken and the train level is missing triggers making it impossible to finish). Which is why there are no runs for it as its unbeatable without modifying the games files or cheating.
Yes that's correct, unless I'm mistaken, although the word "predates" in the rules throws me off as the runs in that category seem to just be the most current patch, or at least patches similar, not from before the Beta builds.
Edit: On second looks the rules say the same for the Beta. So yes the patch you get normally goes in Old Engine.
The m3sa beta has updated changes that m3sa (one of the only developers left) has made to the game. The most notable changes being to New Alaska making it much better. Unfortunately the developer didn't have the raw map files and had to decompile and recompile the maps to be able to edit them. Which caused some maps to be broken and missing things they should have.
