It's time for this game to get some new mods as the current mods are corrupt.
Me and Inception Kitten recently broke the world record in the category Co-op Easy with a time of 8:08. Our run was rejected because the video recording had accidentally cut off the bottom few pixels of the screen. The rules for this category don't state anywhere that video evidence is even required, and why would it? This is a category of just 3 other runners. You would think that the mods would be delighted to see some new blood climbing the ranks and bringing activity to their favorite 30 year old game. But instead we were unfairly rejected, despite providing more evidence than is asked for in the run rules. World records in thousands of other games are accepted that have even worse recordings with more of the screen cut off by twitch chat, donations, and sub alerts.
Just a couple days later we pushed the record even further to 7:58, this time with a proper recording showing the entire screen and including a mic on so you can hear us communicate strategies the whole time and hear us physically pressing the buttons. There is no universe in which this is insufficient proof of the run being legit: .
We submitted this run with the comment "Here's your stupid 5 pixels on the bottom of the screen. sub 8 boys", poking fun at the absurdity of our other rejection. Within the video you can hear me say "That's what you get mods, you try to deny our run, we'll break the record barrier. It's sub 8:00, you guys are noobs. OOOOOOOO!" Apparently this run was then rejected because "Disrespect of any mod is not welcomed, and we won't allow such behavior in this leaderboard."
In what world is that disrespecting the mods? If anything they are disrespecting the time and effort we put into pushing the boundaries of this game by denying a legitimate world record on the leaderboard because they are too sensitive to light trolling. All we did was call the pixels on the bottom of the screen stupid, and called out the other players of the categories as noobs in jest. Clearly in the video we are laughing as I said that because it was never meant to be taken seriously.
Not only has that run been rejected, but also we have been shadow banned from the leaderboards. We have been competing with the runners enri and vardemir in the Co-op Normal category, trading records with each other, at the same time that this went down. We submitted a run competing with theirs on the same day that they also submitted a run. Their run was approved but our run has been left in limbo, not being accepted or reject, despite clear video evidence and without any form of disrespect or playful banter involved. We are holding a world record time that would take first place in this category as well, but what's the point of submitting if we aren't even allowed on the leaderboard at all?
In a game like Golden Axe 2 with very few runners the mods should be exited with all the new recent activity. But instead it feels to me like these mods are afraid of us coming and beating their precious records. Something here needs to change.
Here is my proposal: If the mods refuse to verify the legitimate world record, then we as a community need to make a push to appoint new mods to watch over this game. Alternatively, the mods can verify our world record runs, and we agree to delete any comments that they deem as disrespectful, mute any audio in the run that is deemed as disrespectful, I will apologize to the mods for what I said, and we can put this in the past as we head into a new era of Golden Axe II speed running.
Hello guys, I would like to start by saying: let's stay civil, we shouldn't go at each-others throat. We are only 4 (maybe 6?) active players, plus Shime, so let's talk this out. We all make mistakes, and misread situations. Let's not go as far as calling out mods as corrupts for what could have been just a misunderstanding.
About the first run (Easy - 8:08), I'll be in favor of Shime rejecting it. It's true, there's a lot of worse quality videos out there, with lots of stuff obscuring the gameplay. That doesn't mean we should allow such crappy standard here. While it's not an explicit rule to show the whole game, you didn't miss a few pixels: the whole mana bar was cut-off. I wouldn't know what to do in that situation, since it's clear that you did the overflow glitch, and you didn't use any more mana than you had. Shime had to decide what to do and there's no correct nor wrong answer here.
That being said, on the second run (Easy - 7:58), I'll side with you. I heard your video and read what you said here, and we all say stuff like that, joking about the situation. I didn't feel any ill intent in the way you said it, and I laughed because I would have said something similar. Maybe the submission comment could have felt harsh, and that's understandable.
I loved our silent competition on the Normal leaderboard. We were going to stop grinding at 14:05, but saw your sub 14 and we had to keep going. It made the game way more exciting, theorizing about what you were doing and what we should be doing. I hope it stays this way in the future.
As closing thoughts, I would like to know Shime's side. I would like to know how he felt about all of this (the first submission, and the second one with the comment on the submission and the video). After that, I think your second proposal would be great: apologize if needed, move on and keep fighting and bantering for the world record (which will be quite hard, you guys are good).
Welp, about the HUD I agree, you need to show whole screen, even if it is not mentioned in rules, I really think that is not needed to mention something like that The second run is ok, but I think you could've been more polite, no need to do some "joke" to someone that you don't know well, so I think he was on his right Btw, he is modding basically alone, and those kind of decisions are better to think together (this we will solve soon) Welp, I think shime will be here soon, and apologies will be welcome, for sure (I would do that) Oh, and GG for your time
Hello, Shime here.
I'm gonna go direct to the point since JJRockets already told the whole situation. All the runs pass through the validation, and in fact you have a point that there isn't exactly a rule that explains about it. But there's a consent that every run submitted should have the whole screen showing up, specially the magic bar which is a major thing in the run- Not taking you into consideration because I saw that you and Inception were giving your best on the game, but if I would to accept your run with part of the HUD outside the video, it could open margin to other people cheating on a run and not showing the HUD, which could lead to a major problem inside the community itself.
Once again, the reason for the first reproval was that. When you submitted again- this time correctly, you joked about the whole situation that to begin, wasn't even my fault, and it felt disrespectful towards me. That's why I rejected saying that no disrespect toward us would be tolerated.
In my part (the one who's doing basically everything here at the moment), I have my part of mistake by not talking directly with both of you regarding the 8:08 submit. And above all, it's being awesome to see the 2P Play category being so active these days and of course I wouldn't prejudice any runners on this, actually I'm here to lend a hand if necessary.
About MODs, as previously said, I'm the only active mod here, and just got the Super Mod badge yesterday, so new people are coming in as moderators as well on this community. That (and the Glitchless categories) are the things I'm working to make this community even better, with new rules and more people to make things more clearer.
Once again, your run is legitimate, there's no doubt of it.
I apologize for the comments, we never meant for anyone to be disrespected. We failed to consider how the comments would feel on the receiving end; we'll do better and leave out any unnecessary comments in the future. We resubmitted the run cutting out the cringe pop off at the end and the note on the run. From here out let's just enjoy some friendly competition in Golden Axe II. We'll see you on the battlefields 😉
