I've been practicing leading up to doing runs for Astro Bot - but I see there is no category for 301 bots.
I figured Any% would be a category for sure, but 100% collecting all trophies and collectible is fairly boring to me over time and I am sure to others. Why not have a category that is in between?
301 Bots:
-
Requires completion of all levels, whether regular or secret galaxy finish (Including Final Boss, this would be the end of the route when the timer stops)
-
Collect all 301 bots of course
-
Collect all puzzle pieces (since that 301st bot for the Master Challenge is required)
The only exciting part missing from the 100% Platinum runs is routing coin collection which is pretty fun, but getting the collectibles is boring over time, whether it be going through the ENTIRE shop, collecting all the eggs, etc.
Let me know your thoughts. Its an incredibly fun game to route if you focus on the entertaining parts.
The problem with your proposal is that we've already had this discussion. 100% without gacha is impossible as 2 of the puzzle pieces are locked behind the gacha machine. We have created a 300 bots category that aims to collect every bot from the base game (excluding GMC), so maybe that category is up your alley. Trophies were never a requirement for 100% so I'm unsure where you are getting this information from.
I'm confused by your reply so maybe I don't understand. You just use the gacha machine for just the puzzle pieces. I'm not proposing you can't use it at all...you just don't have to get every draw. Just enough to get to the bowling puzzle pieces which I believe is 11 draws in...
Basically what i am proposing is a category that is 100% bots and Puzzle pieces, but without having to collect all the eggs and do all 169 draws. In my proposal, the only overworld collection is bots and Puzzle pieces (excluding eggs) and only a handful of draws with the machine (To get the Puzzle pieces)
You just take out a lot of the boring egg and remaining gacha collections. Hope that makes sense.
The gatcha puzzle pieces are not at a consistent position; on average it seems like they are earlier into the gatcha collection, but i've seen cases where they show up significantly later. This uncertainty means it would kind of suck to do a 3-4 hour run only for it to die at the last moment if either of these puzzle pieces decides to be one of the last ones you get on that attempt. It's not off the table as an option, and we've discussed the possibility of categories like this (perhaps a 300 bot & all non-gatcha puzzle pieces category), but for the moment the 300 bots category was created to create this bridge between 100% and any% as best we could while keeping the categories fun and unique enough to be worthy of a separate category. We don't want to create category bloat where too many similar categories can lead to less people willing to run them, but we will be keeping an eye on the interest for such categories to decide when one would be popular enough, among people who would actually be willing to run it, to earn a spot.
Thats fair, but the 4 times I've done the run, the final puzzle piece blocked by the gacha machine has been unlocked on the 11th position. It seems like the puzzle pieces are locked pretty early and the rest are random, but if what you say is true I get it.
Hopefully this is a category some day because it truly is 100% of base game without needing to go through the entire gacha machine or collect the eggs every time. I'll continue to run it and see if the bowling ball puzzle piece in the gacha machine really can be collected after the fitst handful of picks, I havent run across this yet.
I just got there again and collected both within the first 4. I've never had it go beyond 11, I'm surprised it can go longer.
Perhaps it has been changed in a recent patch? I wouldn't be surprised since they have made similar minor changes before. Would be something to keep an eye on I suppose if this is the case going forwards
Yeah im on my 5th go around actually running each segment and it hasn't gone past 11 in the gacha machine. Kinda fun running a full 301 where obtaining the 301 bot is a consistent end point. More similar to a Mario 120. I just add in getting to either the intended or alternate finish in each level to make it a true 100% outside of eggs and all machine stuff.
I was looking at my runs of 100% and some other's runs, and I was seeing that it doesn't seem to go past 20 pulls. To me this isn't too bad, and I definitely plan to try some 301 to see how it feels.
