Co-op and solo speedrun questions.

Hello, ye lovely denizens of the internet. Hope all is well, I was thinking about doing this co-op speedrun with a buddy of mine, and we were wondering 2 things.

  • We assume the player joining has to bring a recently randomly generated character, that has done no looting whatsoever, just making sure.

  • Is it permissible to tether the joined player with the host as a strategy?

(And in regards to the solo run)

  • Is Independence pack really allowed? I just don't see it used in the other runs.

I can only speak for the runs I do with my coop buddy but naturally the mods may correct me!

  • we followed the same rules for generating characters as solo when it came to coop and did zero looting before joining the session (just in case that means we had an invalid run!) -I have tried messing around with tethering and certainly haven't seen any rules saying it can't be used just haven't found a super huge time save using it (but would love to see some theory of tether summon tricks!)

My thoughts on the matter:

  1. Yep, the co-op player should be randomly generated and have done no looting. Requirement should be that the coplayer is limited to what's in the main's instance.

  2. Tethering doesn't have any real advantage. For the main player to have the xp needed to select the leader, they have to be the one to kill the plague heart. So, while the coplayer could theoretically kill the heart while main heads for next target, the main wouldn't get all the xp needed to be a leader.

  3. As far as I know, the I-pack is allowed.
