Hello, i want to do a Any% run but i dont know what emulator or settings i need to use. Im using nestopia right now, the version that is on the official website. Is there any type of settings for the emulator or the rom it self for my runs to be valid or i need to change anything? (Like show the controller inputs or the version of the emulator)

The core concept is rule #1 "Anything not possible on an original and unmodified NES, brick controller, and SMB3 cartridge is prohibited for runs" it's easy to get gear and settings that make it advantageous over running on an original unmodified nes, and we want a level playing field with accessibility for all our runners.

Specifically, most emulators (including nestopia) have legal default settings, though, sure, any gameplay impacting settings (i.e. speed, input) are illegal. Most video settings are legal (resolution, aspect ratio, palette changes) If you have a specific set of settings you can leave them here or in discord.

You can find the requirements by navigating to the "category rules" here: https://www.speedrun.com/smb3?h=Any&rules=category&x=wkpjpvkr

There are more rules for high level emulator runs here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nlTTikgNzxKKUOXY3IHpp7ymNtPb2VWAhUnDWsE7wFk/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.dxa92qzejyu1 (its linked under "game rules" at the bottom)
