I would like to know what controls I can use when speedruning on a NES emulator.

According to me you can go as far as using something like the ddr thing, as long as you dont use the forbidden things. (Like turbo and l+r ect.)

Yeah any controller is allowed as long as you don't do things you can't do on an original brick controller (L+R, Turbo, etc.)
