Hello Everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying the game! Wanted to discuss the idea of co-op categories and how they might be implemented. Since online co-op requires additional time to create a lobby and have people join, it'd be neat to have separate "Online Co-Op Any%" and "Local Co-Op Any%" Categories, but I understand if that's getting too niche! Either way, just some form of Co-Op category would be super awesome and inviting to all the people who love the co op play in this game!
Anyways, last night Jokerchu and I ran 2 player Any% and plan to do many more runs! Here's the recording that we've submitted!
Thanks everyone!
Super fun, surprisingly seamless. Was using a wireless connection too so I was impressed with how well things held up!
Any co-op categories at all would be awesome, certainly a case could be made that 2 player versus 4 player co-op setups have their advantages and disadvantages (4 players could split up more often but will struggle to maintain the camera and could lead to a few "Too Bad!"s off of improper bubbles).
Game feels different enough when played with more than one person that I'd love to see it get its own category -- even a combined co-op category works fine!
One other idea for a combined category would be to simply pause a run's time as soon as you see the "Online/Local Multiplayer" window show up and resume the timer once play begins -- it's a simple idea that allows Local and Online co-op categories to combine into one category.
Another idea would be to simply start the timer at the start of 1-1 (or on select of 1-1) under the assumption that the runners have already organized themselves. Either way, there's definitely options if we want to combine local and online multiplayer!
